The reporting to the Chief Engineer was relatively uneventful. Next was one of the two events she loathed. It had been a toss up between which went first, or as she put it the last was the worst, which meant medical went second and the psych went last. People would really think given she had two amputated legs from hips down, her right arm including the shoulder from neck to the tips of her fingers, and toss in the fact she was deaf, and had the ability to turn her ears on and off with the flick of her jaw, should have made medical last. When in actual fact, it was the nosey, have to stick their noses into everything doctors that forced her to really clench her jaw and bite down from not commenting. She realised that it wasn’t normal to have people in Starfleet who has three limbs missing and that some people, make that a lot of people thought that they couldn’t do their jobs, add the fact that she was deaf from birth and had been fitted with artificial ears, that she could turn off and on with the flick of her jaw, added to people believing she was mentally unable to function, however it was always extremely nice to prove that there were things she could do that normal people couldn’t.

Ignoring the people walking down the corridor, she joined the group waiting for the TL taking in the uniforms and matching them with their specialties. Stepping back when the doors of the TL opened and those that could fit stepped in, she waited, one of the things she hated most was a crowded TL. She’d had four encounters where crowded TL’s had dropped the brakes failing, sending the TL plummeting downward towards the TL cycle centre where the TL’s waited to be called. The only thing that made it bearable had been the fact that it had been a Hirogen vessel, filled with Damage Control Engineers from her families business and a few Hirogen. Thankfully it hadn’t been filled with non engineers or Starfleet Power Heads. Stepping into the next TL with three Cadets from Operations, two Cadets from Security and a Power Head from Science. Making her selection, she lent against the wall as the TL began it’s journey.

Listening to the introductions being made, TJCT ignored her turn, wondering what the Security Cadets would think of the fact that she was armed and they weren’t. But then her weaponry was buried inside her artificial legs and arm, multi fire crossbows, with a selection of arrows, darts, bladed weapons, and of course a collection of explosives, all of them a variety of different species. TJCT didn’t bother reacting as she stepped out of the TL as the conversation turned to the Borg. Why everyone considered the Borg, big, bad and ugly was beyond her, there were other species more dangerous then the Borg, and being from a planet which was known as a salvage, privateer, collection and place where anything and everything could be acquired meant she’d met a fair few of them, but that wasn’t something she spoke about.

Stepping into med bay, TJCT gave her name to the nurse on duty and took a seat to wait her turn.

Cadet Teresina Jason Christine Tanner
Engineer

OOC: Welcome aboard! That is an intriguing post. I’m looking forward to learn more about your character and to rp with you!

IC:
“Welcome, Cadet. Please have a seat on that biobed over there,” Nurse Anderson said with a warm smile and pointed towards the nearest biobed to their left. “Doctor Tija will be with you in a few minutes.” After waiting a second or two to make sure the Cadet was heading in the right directing, Nurse Anderson turned around and informed Tija of the arrival of the cadet before heading over to another officer in engineering yellow. “And what did you do today, Michael?” she asked in a slightly patronising voice. “I burned my hand,” the NE mumbled reluctantly.

TJCT wanted to roll her eyes at the burned hand comment, but kept her express blank. She had to wonder why he hadn’t bothered to wear gloves.

From where she was standing while entering the last data into another cadet’s medical file, Tija over heard the conversation between the nurse and the NE and had a hard time not rolling her eyes. Once finished, she walked over to TJCT. Her copper hair was pulled back into a neat ponytail, leaving the narrow, white scare long the hairline on the right side of her face - from her temple to her ear - clearly visible. She was a petite woman with jade green eyes and appeared much younger than she actually was.

“Hello Cadet Tanner,” Tija greeted the other woman with soft smile. “Welcome aboard the Challenger. I hope you had a good journey out here into the Delta Quadrant.” Looking down at the PaDD in her hand, the Bajoran doctor continued, “From your file I can tell that you had your fair share of experience with doctors in the past. Is there anything I should know that isn’t in your file?”

~Lt. Tija, Asst. CMO

Now she could travel a very long distance with that question. The question was did she want to open that can of worms. She knew the fact that she had both legs amputated along with her right arm and shoulder, and had had them replaced with specially made prosthetics. Then there was the fact she’d been born deaf, and had artificial ears fitted, the fact she turned them on and off to suit her, was also in her file. The fact that she was a walking weapon with the weapons hid inside the prosthetics was again known to Starfleet but as far as she was aware it was known to the King Pin and the ...... she blanked out the name for the XO and stuck with the Starfleet term only. She could add what caused her to loose the limbs, but decided not too.

“The question could be rephrased as am I prepared to tell you anything? Maybe you should tell me why I should tell you what you want to know?” TJCT asked quietly.

Tija pursed her lips ever so slightly. There was something about the Cadet that rubbed her the wrong way, though she wasn’t entirely sure why. Pushing her emotions to the back of her mind, the doctor kept her professional composure. “In order to treat every person o this ship in the best possible way when need be, I have to know as much about there medical background and recent medical history as possible,” she replied, her voice calm and kind. Yet there was a hint of steeliness in there nevertheless when she added, “I don’t like playing games and I don’t want to pull rank, but I will without hesitation if I have to.” The Bajoran woman’s eyes locked with TJCT’s. “But let me rephrase my question: How are you sleeping? Has there been a change in your sleeping pattern over the past three months? And the same for your eating habits? Any illnesses or infections since your last medical? Any unusual pains like headaches?”

~Lt. Tija, Asst. CMO

“The ship is too hot for my likings, generally. I’m sleeping fine, though lowering my quarters temperature would make me sleep easier, I doubt however my roomie would appreciate it, no aches and pains, no headaches, my eating habits depend on the temperature. No illnesses or infections since my last Starfleet medical. Though I do find Starfleet a little more thorough then some of the other Delta Quadrant races and my home planet.” TJCT answered. “I was under the impression that you would have received everyone’s medical history prior to them boarding.” There was no bite in the last statement, it was more of a question then anything else.

Tija nodded her and there as she listened attentively. “I have and have read your file. Yet a file can only tell me this much,” the doctor replied simply as she flipped her tricorder open and took the small wand into her right hand. “Maybe you can find a compromise with your roommate,” she continued as she started to move the wand methodically down the cadet’s body; starting at her head. All the while her eyes were fixed on the tricorder screen to make sure she wasn’t missing anything.

~Lt. Tija, Asst. CMO

“Then you know about the three artificial limbs.” TJCT answered, she knew that the tricorder couldn’t see the weapons inside, thanks to the mineral they were made of. “Needed thanks to the Borg.” She thought the Starfleet files would contain everything. The woman wasn’t human, which made TJCT curious as she studied her. About to open her mouth and ask, she remembered what one of her instructors had told her. “May I ask what race you are? Your race is not found on my home planet. I am curious if you feel you are able to answer my question.”
