Moving from one seat to the last waiting for the Nut Case to call her name TJCT had managed to get through the medical session without using any of the terms that she usually used. Nut Case. Power Head. Circuit Board. Cutter. Boss. Bones. Quack. Vampire. King Pin. Top Dog. Head Honcho. Arse Kisser. Big Cheese. Grater. PIC. Shield. Body Collector. Techie. Constructor. Originator. MET. WDDCE. Old Salt. Shellback. Dead Diver. Merc. Enforcer. Bandit. Liquidator. Torpedo. Backstepper. TJCT slid down in the seat, stretching out her legs, and closed her eyes. She didn’t like doing nothing. She liked doing something, and sitting waiting for someone to call her name and make time in their schedule wasn’t what she called doing something.

“So what did you think of the Chief Engineer?” TJCT didn’t have to open her eyes to recognise the voice of her roomie. “I thought he was a bit of a hard arse.”

“If you think that’s what he is you don’t have much experience.” TJCT answered, not changing position. She could feel her roomie staring at her.

“What would you call him?”

“Boss.” It didn’t take a million credits to work out that wasn’t the answer she’d been expecting. Power Head. Circuit Board. Also came to mind but she didn’t voice them.

“Did we see the same guy?”

“Unless you’re planning on making him your pillow, he’s the boss regardless of how he acts or speaks.” TJCT answered.

“You don’t talk like this is your first assignment.”

“That depends on your definition of assignment. My parents own a cargo transport company, I’ve been fixing, repairing, replacing, modifying, and a whole lot more since before I could walk. Starfleet are known to put a certain type of trainer on their Academy ships. They think it’ll keep their cadets alive longer.”

“Starfleet vessels?”

“Old, new, retired, mismashed, black marketeer ships, ships from other species, my parents deal with anyone who can meet their price in credits, trade, weapons, you name it.” Her parents were also known as scavengers or salvages, their home planet was known for its market. A place where you could purchase anything and everything. Legal, illegal, moral and immoral. She’d seen everything, and snuck into places that her parents wouldn’t have wanted her too.

“I thought Starfleet put their retired vessels in holding ports, in case they need them for spare parts?”

TJCT snorted. “If someone is willing to pay for something, there is always someone who is willing to get it.”

“Cadet Teresina Jason Christine Tanner.”

Rising to her feet, TJCT cleared her face making it blank and strode towards the caller.

OOC (out of character): I’m really enjoying reading your posts!

IC (in character):

The voice belonged to a fellow cadet, although this one was wearing a teal-trimmed uniform. Her flame red hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she eyed Tanner with deep green eyes. “I’m Cadet Smith. I’ll be completing your psychological evaluation today. Luckily for you, I was a fully qualified therapist before I entered Starfleet Academy so I don’t need the level of supervision that most of the cadets in the counseling track require until they receive appropriate education.” She continued to chatter on as she led Tanner to a nearby office and allowed the door to close behind them.

“Grab a seat there.” The cadet indicated a set of empty chairs in front of a desk. “Can I get you something to drink or eat from the replicator? I’m pretty hungry myself, I was writing reports during my lunch break.”

Smith, CNS

Could she really put up with another chatterbox, sweet pie, TJCT wanted to bare her teeth and growl, but she didn’t even sigh. “No thank you.” She answered. “Why don’t you eat while we get this over with. To put it bluntly you’re the third on the list and to be brutally honest, I’d just like it to be over and done with. I’m not sure if all of your victims have been grateful for your review, but this one would rather walk a Borg cube then be here. Not that it’s personal, it’s just I’m not crash hot on your career path.” She’d been through this numerous times since she’d been rectified by the Borg and she just didn’t see the point going over it again. To be honest with Starfleet she’d handed them copies of the incident in question, though she’d left out Taipan and her time with the Hirogen, and every counselor, cadet or not had wanted to discuss the Borg incident. She’d also skimmed over Coolac her home planet and what went on their, doubting that Starfleet would find some of the things that went on their morally right. Victims was probably going to get her a bad review, but unfortunately for the cadet it was how she saw Counselors Raptors who took out their prey picking it to death. “So where would you like to start, my Borg rectification, my interaction with some of the species that Starfleet don’t like, my childhood, or something else?” She bit the bullet or in her case the arrow and waited for the response.

Tanner’s comments didn’t phase Smith, although she paused her traipse toward the replicator and instead made her way back to sink into the chair on the opposite side of the desk. “Sounds like you’ve done this a lot,” she commented. “Maybe you could just talk and we could skip the questions?” She laughed at her own humor and then continued without taking a breath. “How about you just tell me why you enrolled in Starfleet Academy?”

Smith, CNS

“Because it allowed me to experience something new. We don’t get many Starfleet vessels at my home planet, unless they need repairs. A lot of ships don’t even realise we’re there. Though there are an awful lot of Starfleet’s ways that I find wasteful, it’s an easy way to encounter races that you don’t get in the Delta Quad.”
