As the two began to head out, he looked over at the cadet. “Now, what did you want to talk to me about?”

OOC (1): This is a good post to write about your character’s actions between what I wrote - such as before that last sentence.

OOC: (2): You should now have the Potterfield’s specs in your tricorder. The Potterfield is a Mythology-class ship, so the information on your tricorder can be located in the STF Tech Manual here: https://www.star-fleet.com/library/bookshelf/tm/monolith.html. Remember that as a cadet, your experience level may be somewhat limited, and your character may be more dependent on the written information in the specs.

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

“Sir,” Grayson spoke up after Commander Harkness’ voice stopped, “I’ve been studying the Potterfield and the Monolith-class specs ever since we arrived on station. All of the scans and reports indicate an infestation of crew space, there’s no reported penetration or violation of technical systems that should require an extensive repair.”

Grayson shrugged, “Since all signs point to this being an intentional power down, all we should need is access to power the ship up. Think we can get there before we get attacked?”
Cadet Paul, Engineer

“With our luck?” Keval said, leading the way to where the environmental suits were stored. “Yes.”

“Now, before we’re infected by some horrible disease? No.” Keval said. “When we have time, I should probably tell you the story of when I was gassed to unconsciousness while on an away mission to an adrift ship. On the positive side, it was an excellent learning opportunity for the cadets I was supervising.”

“Now, those Monolith ships were built as power horses,” Keval said. “If necessary, they have enough power to bring along extra cargo modules. Unlike Challenger, they only have one warp reactor, but they more then make up for it with extra fusion reactors and backup generators. I wouldn’t be surprised if Arbuckle just had extra power reactors, and just started building them into the ship’s specs.”

Keval stopped walking for a moment and turned to the cadet, very serious for a change. “For a ship like the Potterfield to lose that much power, without even the backups able to get it up to half-power? Something had to go catastrophically wrong. Or something is actively interfering with the power. There aren’t any good circumstances to justify intentionally shutting down that many power generators. Either way, I want you to stay alert at all times, and be prepared for anything.”
