SnipTorrirs huffed, stuffing the devices back where they belonged. D-mn cadet, they subconsciously rubbed their neck, could have given me his infection. They knew Richards wasn’t to blame, his psyche was warped by the pathogen, but that didn’t hinder the irritation slowly building in their chest.
“Cadet Scott!” Obiah called out, masking their annoyance with forbearance as not to punish Oliver for vexation that wasn’t a mark of his influence.
Dr. Torrirs
The cadet popped his head out from around the corner where he had been lost in a medical journal. He surveyed the scene quickly, his eyes widening slightly at the chaos before him. Seeing the doctor standing in the middle of all this, he quickly rushed over to them.
“I’m so sorry doctor,” he said, his face flushed slightly with the embarrassment of having been oblivious to whatever had happened here, “Do you need some assistance?”
“You’re fine,” Torrirs huffed. “Yes! Assistance would be great!” They let out a sigh, waving a hand. “Take a look over there. What do you see?”
His eyes turned to the cadet laying on the bed unconscious. This certainly seemed to have potential to become one of those interesting situations he had asked the doctor about during his boarding physical.
Cadet Oliver Scott, Medical
They didn’t wait for his response.
“A sick man. That’s what you see,” they scoffed, “a sickness for which we currently don’t have a cure and heaven knows when science is going to comm us with something.” They wiped their forehead with the back of their arm, surprised to find mild sweat. Was the temperature raised in the sickbay? Everyone knew bacteria thrived in the heat. “So. It looks like it’ll be up to us to find something to curb the symptoms until we can find some sort of cure.”
“Grab a tricorder and start running some scans. I want to know the basics of what this is. Are there signs of a virus? A bacteria? A fungus? That way we can start determining possibilities for medication,” they gestured to the bedside table. “Meanwhile, can someone check the temperature in here? It’s oddly warm for a sickbay.”
OOC: I prepped Torris with some information so I am just waiting for a chance to interject useful information.

Dr. Torrirs, CMO
“We found our wayward Cadet,” Max said as he helped to carry the unconscious Richards back into sickbay. “I’m not sure how much longer he’ll be out for, so we need to get him into isolation and strapped down ASAP.”
Finally he took a look at the group as he waited for the doc’s to point him to where they wanted Richards, “So, what did we miss?”
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
Olly had just picked up a tricorder when the XO came in with Cadet Richards.
“Please lay him over there, sir,” he said gesturing to one of the empty biobeds.
He glanced quickly at Dr. Torrirs, mildly concerned about the beads of sweat forming on their forehead and the off comment about the heat in Sickbay. Those were surefire signs of something not good medically and with their recent exposure to the cadet, it was quite possible that whatever he was infected with had been transmitted. Looking at the two unconscious cadets he decided it would be best to start with the known infected one to prevent further spread, the newly arrived patient would have to wait.
“Sir, I will be with him in a moment,” he called to the XO over one shoulder as he began his initial scans of Cadet Osten. Over the other shoulder he called out to Dr. Torrirs, “Doctor, the temperature is normal in here, perhaps an anti-pyretic would be in order?”
He glanced carefully at the readings looking for any clues as to what sort of pathogen they may be dealing with. The first order of business, as the CMO had mentioned, would certainly be to figure out if it was bacterial, viral, or fungal so that he could surmise an appropriate method of combat.

“You got it Cadet,” Max said as he helped Richards over to the biobed, before pushing him up onto it. As they stepped back, he activated the restraints.
As they finished restraining Richards he couldn’t help but overhear Scott’s comment. “Hey Doc, if there is something we need to know here, speak up. We can’t risk whatever this is spreading here on the Challenger.”
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
Nijix helped the XO place the officer onto the biobed, her body sore from the trip. She was glad to release her burden as she pulled away. Her mind drifted to the desire to clean up but resisted. She suspected Nylaa’s obsession in her past about cleanliness had caused this. Nijix stood to wait for more instruction. Until the infection was identified or at least learned about how it was spread, any ideas of hers weren’t going to help.
