It would be similar to the cadet’s medical check in that Ril would try and avoid his psychological evaluation. While he dodged sickbay after years of being poked and prodded he avoided the Councilor’s office because he had always had an issue with therapists. While his treatment at the Symbiosis Commission had not been rude or unfair the cadet’s self-confidence had suffered by repeated exploration of his personality to ensure compatibility with a symbiont.
However after six days aboard he had to attend before a complaint was entered so he found himself outside the Councilor’s office for his evaluation at thirteen hundred. The first meeting for new crewmen was always with the chief psychologist as they had to form a report to the Commanding Officer so Kyneln was expecting the generic questions. The doors would hiss open into the office and the cadet announced himself, “Cadet Kyneln Ril reporting for evaluation.”

The office of the ship’s Counselor was unique on board, to say the least. It was lit in a more subdued manner than the rest of the ship, with the light coming from wall lamps rather than the typical overhead lighting. Multiple bookcases with glass enclosed shelves lined one wall, filled with copies and originals of many texts on many different subjects, and a quick glance would show multiple languages as well. The desk was set at an angle against the opposite wall to the door in the corner, allowing for a large open space in the middle. Here there was a couch and a few chairs, one of which sat in front of and facing away from the desk. Pictures hung on the walls, some were even old photographs. Each depicted either places, individuals, or groups of people, and many were in black and white.
The Cadet would instantly feel comfortable, like slipping into a hot bath. The room was reminiscent of his Grandmothers house which he had spent countless hours at in his not so distant youth, even to the point that his parents had to force him to come home; even though there was nothing Kyneln was trying to avoid at home, he just never wanted to leave.
Seated at the desk was a plain looking human male with brown hair and brown eyes. He average looking; the kind of person that would be lost in a crowd of more than four or five people. He wore the blue uniform of the Science and Medical Sections, and Lieutenant Commander pips showed on his collar. There was one distinguishing feature about the man, however. Actual glasses were perched on his nose. He looked up, and a very odd accent issued forth, as if multiple accents were vying for singular control of his voice. Still, his speech was clear and his words crisp. “Hello, Cadet. I am Lieutenant Commander Janusz Korczak. Be seated, won’t you?” and his indicated the seating area.

“Yes of course Sir, I’m Kyneln” came his immediate response as he took an armchair to sit in. “I’m sorry I’ve delayed this appointment, I’ve been quiet busy settling in on the Challenger and there just didn’t seem to be an opportunity to meet with you.” As Kyneln spoke, he felt himself stare at the Commander who the Cadet considered a simple man. He was however very intrigued as to why he was wearing actually framed lenses when eye conditions that would once have be dealt with glasses could be corrected in a heartbeat with modern medicine; Kyneln himself had an astigmatism corrected at the age of eight.
OOC: Sorry ‘bout the delay, was waiting for my other posts to be responded to. :)
