USS Challenger
Flight Deck - We can rebuild it (all welcome)
SNIP
Meredith yanked the tarpaulin away with a flourish, revealing a sleek and stylish, if a little worse for wear, shuttlecraft. The main hull was a slim cigar shape, the crew area flush with the rest of the fuselage, and the warp nacelles were tucked away under a swept high mounted delta wing. The remnants of a red high gloss paint job could still be seen here and there and the whole craft seemed to exude an air of sophistication and speed, even grounded as it was.
“Ferraborghini Diavolo, last word in 22nd century style, a friend o’ mine found her sitting in a scrapyard of all places and managed to ‘acquire’ her for me along with a few genuine spare parts”
Meredith ran her hand lovingly along the fuselage, admiring the clean and pure lines of the craft. She reached the cockpit and hauled on the catch to open the door. It initially resisted and then popped open, releasing a musty smell. The gull wing door swung up to reveal the four seater cabin, the remains of leather seating trailing in rags, wooden panels long since rotted away.
“Beauty ain’t she?” Said Meredith, coughing slightly.
Lt Monroe - Chief Engineer
Grayson coughed at the sudden cloud of dust and musk escaping from the cabin. “Oh that just won’t do,” he stepped back a little, “Computer, increase ventilation in this area by twenty-five percent.” The computer chimed it’s agreement and the faintest hint of movement in the air began.
“I don’t suppose she’ll start up at this point,” he stepped up to the hull and stroked it’s side lovingly, “But you’ve just been neglected for so long, a little love just might bring you out of your shell, huh?”
Grayson smiled at the Lieutenant as he walked past the cockpit, ducking under the delta-wing and swung around to the aft end of the craft. “How would you like to proceed, L.T? As much as I’d like to make this lady beautiful again, probably need to make sure her engine works, am I right?”
Cadet Paul, Engineer“Aye Grayson, feel free to pop her hood and have a poke around, just watch out for plasma coolant leaks, that stuff’ll eat through organic matter like a tellarite at a breakfast buffet.”
Grayson thought a breakfast buffet sounded pretty enticing. He hadn’t eaten for some time and was rather ravenous, but at the Lieutenant’s invitation, he crawled into the cockpit, opened a hatch in the back and began jamming his large body into the tight compartment.
Meredith dragged a power coupling over to the ship and after a few adjustments and Gaelic curse words, managed to hook up the ship to the power grid to get some juice flowing while they got the engines back online. She settled into the remnants of the pilots seat and tentatively flicked some of the retro dials and switches. Nothing. She sighed.
“Ach well, I guess we’ll have tee do this the hard way girl eh?” She said, starting to pop inspection hatches.
Lt Monroe - Chief Engineer
From where he lay wedged, Grayson heard her speaking to the ship and smiled to himself. He pulled his tricorder out and flipped it open; scanning the engines he could tell that the power from the coupling was flowing through the old, creaky veins of this old, creaky craft, but something was interfering with it’s ability to turn on. He thought for a moment, Twenty-second century huh? Warp engines were much too massive back then to fit in a hot rod like this, which means…
“Sublight engines,” He spoke aloud. He found an assembly that could be an ancient ancestor to Challenger’s impulse engines. But to fuel the impulse engines meant channeling excess plasma created by the matter/anti-matter reaction. And sure enough, there were a couple of small containers. His tricorder read that they were empty, which was a good thing because the magnetic containment unit was off-line.
“Lieutenant Monroe,” Grayson spoke down the length of his body, past his feet and out the hatch to where she waited in her newly claimed seat, “We’ve got a lot of work to do on these engines, and sometime we’re going to need a supply of matter/anti-matter to get this beaut up and running.”

OOC: I decided to practice inserting actions and thoughts into your last post. I hope you don’t mind…and that it didn’t mess anything up!
