The turbolift slowed to a halt and the doors opened with a gentle swoosh, depositing a tall, thick man with close cropped black hair onto the bridge. He wore the yellow uniform of an engineer, with the pips indicating a mere cadet. In his hand he carried a PaDD, and he continued to enter information into it as he stepped off the lift, taking a quick look around the bridge. He was on a mission to report to Captain Rhodes the preliminary results of his research into the USS Potterfield’s condition, but, the Captain’s chair was empty.

He walked over to NE Smith, working a science post, “Excuse me, would you happen to know where the Captain is?”

Smith nodded, “B’lieve he’s in his office, mate.”

“Thanks,” Grayson nodded as he walked to the Ready Room and rang the chime, then held the PaDD in both hands behind his back as he waited.

IC: At the sound of the word, ‘Enter’, the doors slid open to admit the Cadet. Through the doors was the sight of the Captain at the small window that looked out over the Challenger, next to a small dining table and two chairs.

Turning to the door, the Captain nodded and placed the cup of coffee he held on the table, then placed his hands casually behind his back. “Yes Cadet? Please come in.”

Captain Rhodes, CO

Grayson smiled as he walked through the doors and strode boldly to the Captain’s desk. Though it wasn’t protocol, he extended his hand to the man, “It’s a pleasure and an honor to meet you, sir,” Grayson glanced quickly out the window from which the Captain had just been standing and wondered what the Captain had seen.

“I’m Grayson Paul, I work down in Engineering. Lt. Monroe assigned me the task of analyzing the Potterfield’s structural systems, determining whether or not she can be restored to service, and to report my conclusions and any recommendations I may have to you.”
