Summerry of results:
The growth cycle of the vegetables is now complete and while enriching the nutrients and careful monitoring of temperature at optimal cut growing time to 53 standard days this is still slower than was hoped for by 13 standard days. Standard tests inticate the resulting produce is edible and will be nutricious. Taste tests
Are going to require additional personel able to digest vegetable produce. Taste Test pending approval and verification by Lt T’Kam. The computer predictions are promising. All indications are that even if the taste isn’t completely correct the vegetables will sustain life. It is of course my desire that they should also taste good as properly tasting food has a significant morale effect that can stimulate increased efforts from those consuming it.
It should be noted that my experiment has a significant Terrain bias as terrain vegetables have spread into wide use . And do to trade actually are found beyond Federation explored territories.
The yield from the uncontaminated control group is.
6 tons potatos. Terrain PEI Gold.
2 tons sweet potatos. Yams and assorted Tuborus roots. Mixed origins.
1 ton Sugar beets. Terran variety.
2 tons soybeans. Terrain variety.
Miscellaneous herbs and spices used in seasoning.
The part of the rxpsriment having to do with recovering soil that is damaged by toxins and or radiation yeilded
Roughly half the yeild and will not produce anything edivle as grasses and plants known to leech the soil were planted to examine if such plants would remove the toxins from the soil.surprisingly good results came of this as by my projections a second cycle of growth of these leeching grasses would render the soil contaminent free. The soil would of course need enrichment to be usable but that can be accomplished with a minimum of labour.
Using traditional low tech farming techniques.
OOC: (Not going to write out what would be a 20 page report it’s long as it is. Just wanted to give a feel for it)
