Gordon sat at his station and monitored the sensors and readouts of the away team. He kept an eye on all the challenger’s systems, mainly focusing on the transporter systems to ensure that he could bring the team back if needed.-Gordon, CE
Acknowledging the report from the computer T’Kam thought it to be best to let the Captain know in case there were any worries. “Life support should be stable for several more hours on deck 3, Captain. Life support appears to be offline for the rest of the Potterfield.”
Lt. T’Kam (CSO)
“Thank you Lieutenant,” Felix said casually, “keep your eyes on it. Let’s make sure we are ready to assist if need be. Keep scanning the area in case we get company as well.”
Then, he opened his comm line.
=/\= Away Team, this is Captain Rhodes. What is your status over there? =/\=
Captain Rhodes, CO
=^= Stand by Captain. =^=
=^= Challenger, this is Commander Harkness. We are working on making contact with the remaining crew here. However, we have encountered some sort of life form. It gave one of the cadets a bit of a scare. We are trying to ascertain what we have encountered. =^=
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
OOC: Going to play off the interference idea that I saw earlier on the away mission sim :)
IC: T’Kam had been scrutinizing the sensors for the last few minutes picking up some sort of interference, or so it seemed. There would be another life form near the group and then the next second it would disappear. It would happen all around the group so he couldn’t be sure what exactly it was. When he would try to refine the focus of the sensors, any life form that was there, wasn’t anymore. “I can’t quite confirm Captain .. It could be some sort of interference, but at times it would appear as if there indeed is .. something .. there with them.”
Lt. T’Kam (CSO)
Lots of things if T’Kam had to guess. If there were other creatures not in the sickbay, it is very likely that they would be able to hide in the interference caused by the biomass that the away team found coating the inner walls of the Potterfield.
GM Wombat
“Keep scanning Lieutenant,” Felix said as he tapped his fingers on the arm of his chair. “Lets not let the team be surprised by something unexpected.” Then he opened his comm line again.
“Yes sir.”
=/\=Acknowledged, Commander=/\= Came the voice of Rhodes from the ship. =/\= Stay alert, and let us know if you need personnel or material support.=/\=
Captain Rhodes, CO
=^= Captain. Cadet Locke was supposed to have beamed over to us. He’s not here. Is he still on the Challenger? =^=
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
T’Kam began a scan on the team’s location as a whole to perhaps identify what was interfering with the scan of the area. His hopes were to identify the life form or what was obscuring the scan to be able to filter it out so that only the necessary information he wanted was left.
Lt. T’Kam (CSO)
T’Kam’s Scans proved more or less fruitless. The bio-mass originated one of the cargo bays, or at least it is thickest there. A couple of the other cargo bays seemed more or less free from the pervasive biomass but over all a manual inspection will need to be done. Main engineering would need to be investigated to bring the Potterfield back online if the crew wanted to do anything other than rescue the people hiding in sickbay.
GM Wombat
=/\=Commander, Locke was assigned to transport with your team. Logs show he should be with you. =/\= Felix replied after checking the panel on the arm of his chair.
Captain Rhodes, CO
After gathering sufficient information and attempting to tune the scanners he wasn’t able to make much progress and wanted to give the Captain a small update. “I’ve managed to filter down to an extent Captain, but there appears to be some sort of biomass lining the halls which is the cause of the interference. It seems to be stemming from the cargo bays. As to which one, I am uncertain. If the away team could get Engineering up and running, I’m sure the environmental controls would be able to stem the growth and allow the team to gain more information in regards to the ship from the local database and logs.”
Lt. T’Kam (CSO)
=^=Harkness to Challenger. We’ve got ourselves a bit of a problem. Some sort of spore here on the ship has infected two of the cadets. Cadet Bennet is hurt, and needs medical attention. Recommend isolation and biohazard contamination protocols. The whole team is going to need to be quarantined. =^=
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
T’Kam’s eyebrow rose on hearing the news. The scanners not being able to work properly actually started to annoy him and there was nothing that could be done about it. No warning, no data, all being masked by that biomass whatever it was. He quietly spoke to the computer through the Science terminal in front of him. “Computer, begin a multi-spectral scan in detail of the biomass covering the inside of the ship.” If he couldn’t see inside it, he could start with this outside. Though .. perhaps there was another way he could help as well? “Sir, Cadet Bennet was supposed to have collected samples of the flora aboard the ship. I’d like permission to request the transport scrubbers to allow her through unfiltered into medical quarantine. Those samples could be of significant importance in figuring out what happened to the cadets. With some initial sanitation of the vials, they could be transported to the Science Lab where we can do some additional research on these spores. Assuming she managed to collect a sample of it.”
Lt. T’Kam (CSO)
The deep scans took some time but eventually separated the biomass into three distinct parts: The mossy, plant like covering that lined the hallways and jefferies tubes, the cargo bay 1 which came across as a jungle, and about 20 creatures that moved through the ship at all manner of angles.
GM Wombat
Felix narrowed his eyes and paused for a moment at the report of the medical issue. It was one thing to have crew infected on a ship, it was quite another to have them infected on this ship. The team was in a dangerous situation, but the Challenger had to be protected first.
=/\= Commander, we are preparing medical quarantine and support for the Away team. Can you hold in a secure location until we are ready to transport? What is the status of the injuries? =/\=
=^= That’s a negative Captain. Area is not secure, I repeat area is not secure. We just had a hostile come in and take out NE Richards. We need immediate evac. =^=
flicking to a different comm channel, he opened the line to Medical.
=/\= Lieutenant Torrirs this is the Captain. We have a medical situation with the away team. Some kind of Contaminant has infected members and we need to set up for biohazard and quarantine. Inform me when you are ready to receive the Away Team. =/\=
Captain Rhodes, CO
=^=Torrirs here, Captain; quarantine will be set up shortly.=^=
=^= Challenger. How long until our transport? I’ve got Richards who was shot with some sort of poisoned dart, Bennet is down with what looks like a couple of broken bones, and Osten is definitely acting strange. He got tagged earlier. We won’t be able to last to long here, we are dropping like flies. =^=
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
=^=Torrirs to Captain Rhodes, we are prepared to receive the away team in the sickbay.=^=
