“Computer, what is the location of the Chief Engineer please?” Asked Fred, switching the carrying strap of his kit bag to his other shoulder as it had begun to chafe through the material of his uniform.

“The Chief Engineer is located in main engineering, deck 5” intoned the warm familiar voice of the computer, displaying a route via the nearby wall panel.

“Excellent” Said Fred to himself, nodding and then setting off in the indicated direction.

The doors to main engineering slid open, the doorway momentarily framing Fred as he stepped inside the unfamiliar and yet also familiar space, highlighting his height but also the habitual slightly stooped posture of a tall person used to working in tight spaces. The glow of the warp core illuminated the compartment, picking out the busy crew at their stations as Fred looked around for the Chief.

OOC: Excellent first post, you looked at the ship spec and saw that Engineering was on Deck 5 and your use of third person and first person writing is spot on.

IC:

Seth was sitting in his office going over evaluation PaDDs from different Cadets. This was a new position for him as he had been Chief Engineer of the USS Atlantis before it’s decommissioning and now he was in a more teaching role.

Seth looked out his window and noticed a young cadet he didn’t recognize and said, “Cadet, are you looking for me?”

OOC: Thanks! I’m not sure Fred can get away with ‘Young Cadet’ through, he’s got a few years on the Chief!

IC:

Fred dropped his kit bag and came to attention before offering the PaDD containing his shipping orders and personnel files. The hand gripping the PaDD was large and strong, with well developed calluses and an odd shaped burn over one knuckle.

“Aye Sir, Cadet Fraser reporting aboard.” The voice was deep, and still had a trace of the soft, almost melodic Scots burr of someone raised in the Edinburgh region of Scotland.
