As a senior in the Academy, this wasn’t the first time Natalia was having a psychological evaluation. In first year, her counsellor had accused her of being disorganized, which she’d thought was pretty unfair, and had planned to address in second year, though she ended up forgetting the appointment. In third year, the Academy counsellor had written something about her lacking focus and effort and… eh, she couldn’t be bothered to read the rest of the report, but it was probably wrong.

Still, this evaluation would carry more weight than most, coming from the senior counsellor on her first ship posting, so she did her very best to ensure she was no more than half an hour late, tumbling out of the turbolift with pretty obvious bed-hair.

“Cadet Natalia Voss, Sciences, reporting for my psych eval,” she introduced herself.

“Come in,” Viveca looked up from her paperwork, “If you like grab a drink from the replicator and take a seat, we’ll get started.”

Natalia nodded a grateful thanks. As the mug materialised, she hoped her order of a black coffee didn’t speak too deeply to anything psychological, beyond the fact she didn’t like the way replicators made her preferred drink of choice, matcha latte.

She took a seat, cradling the mug between her hands and rolling it back and forth. Lt. Cdr. Arlander was a striking woman, more physically imposing than Natalia. She drank a sip of coffee to quell the knot of worry balling in her stomach.

“So I’m going to start with a few simple questions,” Viveca replied after a moment, with a kind smile, “They are designed to help me learn more about you, if you feel they are reaching too far, let me know and we can redirect to another topic. I like to keep it light, so let’s start with what got you interested in starfleet originally?”
