Paige could barely calm her nerves as she got dressed that first morning.==^==”Computer, set reminder to breathe every four minutes-“
“Reminder set.”
Paige slipped on her white lab coat she received and practically sprinted to Sickbay to report in for her first day.
“Um, Doctor? Am I late?” Paige said to a seemingly empty room.
(I just got called for work, I will continue this)
A Lt in medical blue came from the back. “Hello, you must be Cadet Arla. I’m Lt. Rox your CMO. Welcome aboard.” She smiled and waved her further into the medical bay.
Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer
Morrell had just finished tugging his uniform zipper closed when the door to Sickbay hissed open again. A young woman in a crisp lab coat stepped in, eyes wide with the unmistakable mix of excitement and first-day panic.
“Um, Doctor? Am I late?” she asked into the quiet room.
Morrell turned slightly on the exam table, suppressing a faint smirk as Lt. Rox stepped forward from the back.
“Hello, you must be Cadet Arla,” Rox greeted, her tone patient but warm. “I’m Lt. Rox, your CMO. Welcome aboard.”
Morrell watched the exchange with quiet amusement. The young doctor’s nervous energy was almost contagious — a stark contrast to his own steady composure. He gave her a polite nod, his gravelly voice carrying across the room.
“Don’t worry, Doc,” he said dryly. “You’re not late. The Lieutenant just finished patching me up and proving I’m still more metal than man.”
He eased himself off the table, testing the new padding in his prosthetic with a soft thud against the deck.
“Name’s Morrell — Security. You’ll get used to this place,” he added, tone even but not unkind. “Just remember to breathe.”
He gave a faint nod toward her commbadge, the corner of his mouth lifting in the barest hint of a grin before stepping aside to let the new arrival begin her day.
