Cadet HeiTou Boarding Physical.

OOC (Out of Character): Welcome aboard. You will see that I changed the title to add “medical”. It helps to have thread titles just a little different so that responses don’t get lost in the replies. That said, again welcome aboard. Be sure to add your rank “Cadet” and your department at the end of your post. Like this:

IC (In character):
A doctor walked over to the newly arrived Cadet. “Hello Cadet. Welcome to the, Challenger. I’m Lt. Rox. I’ll be conducting your physical today. Can you tell me your name?”

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer
He was startled by the Lt., he had drifted away while waiting to see Medical, contemplating his decisions that brought him to this point, a 52 year old cadet with one leg, what was he thinking? He was excited and nervous at the same time and ready to finish his processing.

“Hello Doctor, Cadet John Morrell, be advised “Doc” I have a right BKA with no limitations, other than that Im good to go. Ready to get my on boarding finished and get may assignment.”

Cadet John Morrell

Rox nodded, “Not a problem.” She stepped away and returned with an extra scanner. “I’ll just add a scan of your prosthetic to your physical to make sure everything is operating correctly. Have you had any issues with it or discomfort with the fit?”

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer
“I do have a pain and discomfort on the bone of the nub after duty if I’m on my feet for an excessive length, other wise I’m fine, I could use some extra padding in that area, I also have a metal left elbow and a plate in my right wrist along with a projectile stuck in the forth rib in my back behind my shoulder blade, I wasn’t always a cadet.” He chuckled, but it brought back memories of a time long passed, one he didn’t like to think about, another time another life.
Now he began to get nervous, he reported for duty to the C.O., now he’s getting his physical out of the way and then the hard part, the Psych Eval, he wasn’t worried, he just knew the Ships Shrink was about to be busy.

“Would you mind removing your prosthetic?” Rox asked. “I can look at it and see where to add padding. I can put up a privacy field if you like?”

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

” No problem, there’s no need for privacy, sometimes I need to adjust it so I have access readily available.” He’d had it for quite a few years and found ways to adjust it without getting undressed. He’d had it so long he couldn’t remember what it was like without it.

“I’ll be right back with this.” Lt Rox took the leg and held it with the respect of a biological limb. She set it down on a diagnostic table and waited for the computer to finish its scans. She sent a nurse to replicate new padding and to take a 3D image scan of Morrell’s leg. Then she proceeded to form the new padding to fit. She brought it back over, “Alright, try this see how it fits. There is plenty of room for adjustment.”

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

Cadet Morrell slipped the bionic prosthetic back on his nub and walked around the room to test the padding, he pulled a zipper down that was on the inside seam of his uniform, the zipper went from the knee to the ankle so he wouldn’t have to hide and disrobe someplace when he needed to adjust his prosthetic.
“That feels great Doc, thank you so much. I really appreciate that.”

Rox smiled, “Good. How does the height feel? I’m also going to give you a mild anti-inflammatory to use after your shift if you feel sore. If it gets worse, I want you to come back.” She watched him walk around the room, testing out the adjustments. It looked good, and his gait smooth. But people could learn to move normally through pain. She was a testament to that herself.
