As J.C. left the CSciO’s office, he let himself relax somewhat. He’d managed to not make a complete ass of himself at minimum, but he’d hoped he’d at least left a reasonable impression of… Competence? He shook his head to himself.

It only got marginally easier from here.

He gave a slight nod to a passing crewperson, hoping that his nerves weren’t visible, then stepped back on the turbolift from whence he came not overly long ago.

“Deck Six, please,” he said to the turbolift console after the doors hissed closed. He took a moment to lean against the far bulkhead, a half-smile on his lips, trying to figure out if he was still more excited than nervous…

A few moments later, J.C. was striding his way down the corridor towards Main Sickbay, at least seeming a little more calm and collected than before. Medical exams were never a big deal for him… There we at least a few stories to tell, with the salt-and-pepper hair and the scars…

Though some stories were better not told, maybe. But he knew that between this visit and the psych exam…

The parting of the Main Sickbay doors pulled J.C.’s thoughts back to the current moment of time. He looked around for a moment, and then pulled together a smile for the nearest med tech.

“Excuse me, I’m reporting in for my physical. Cadet Swishman…?”

A nurse with Lt. j.g. pips walked up. “Hello Cadet. Welcome to the Challenger. Come this way. Dr. Rox will be with you short… oh here she is.” A Betazoid woman in a lab coat walked up. A large husky followed beside her. “Welcome to sickbay Cadet. Right this way. Hope up on the biobed here.” Rox reached down and flipped the sensors on. “Engineer or security?” she asked taking in his gold uniform.

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

“Thanks, Ma’am.” J.C. took the quick hand-off in stride as he followed the doc, and hopped up on the biobed as instructed.

“Engineer cadet,” he answered easily, then smirked cheekily. “I think my definition of field-stripping a hand phaser was a little different than what Security was looking for on the entrance exam.”

His eyes were drawn to the sizable husky that had accompanied the doc over. He was about to say something, but a memory tickled the back of his mind… Something from Earth History in one of his studies somewhere, an anecdote about animal companions. Not about pets, though, because they didn’t usually follow their owners around in the workspace.

“Lovely canine there, Ma’am,” he went with finally, a slight head nod towards the husky.

The doctor laughed at his story, “Well there is nothing wrong with that.” Rox smiled, her black eyes looked down at the dog fondly. “This is Ril. I have a medical condition that he helps me with, but he is very friendly.” She pulled the small hand scanner from her tricorder, “May I?” she asked before beginning her scans.

“Anything in particular with your medical history you would like to go over?”

OOC: Great post and interaction! Feel free to add flavor, as much or as little, as you want to his medical history.
