This day was going from bad to worse. The last thing he needed was for crew to start disappearing.

Capt Foley - CO

” Sir, I ran a diagnostic again to be sure, one minute she was there in sickbay, and the next gone, but there was no transport or energy signature that suggested some sort of beaming had occurred” said NE at the science station.

The Challenger was now about 1000 meters from the hull of the ship, sensor show a large opening forming in the bottom of the other ship.

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

Aaron sat back heavily in his seat. “Keep searching. There are only so many place a she could go.”

There was only now thing left to do, and hopefully would work. ^=Attention all hands, this is the Captain. Secure all stations. I don’t know what we are going in to, but we are Starfleet, and we train to explore the unknown. Keep your eyes open, and stay safe.=^=

Capt Foley - CO

As the crew secured the ship, and prepared for what was to come, the crew also frantically tried to get the systems back under control. The alien vessel pulled the challenger toward the bottom of the ship and eventually created some sort of soft dock with the up 5 decks. Loud clanks could be hear as something latched onto the surface of Challenger.

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

“Running continuous active scans of the alien vessel,” Demil reported, “10 second refresh rate. Perhaps with a docking port open we’ll be able to ascertain more details.”

Lieutenant Demil Lis
Chief Science Officer

The material is very denses, scans from the outside do not seem to be able to penetrate the hull. As Lieutenant Demil Lis searches for answers another powerful energy surge begins to build, similar to the last. Directly ahead of the ship, If the readings were correct there would be a transwarp conduit opening in the next two minutes.

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

“That will be a negative. I’m not comfortable opening up an airlock until we know what is going to be on the other side. Do what you can to find out what is going out there.”

“Aye, sir. Detecting another surge, estimating less than 150 seconds until another transwarp conduit opens.”

=^=Bridge to Engineering. Whoever is out there has locked onto our hull. What’s your estimate of the amount of damage we could be expecting if we had to break free?=^=

Capt Foley - CO

=/\= Embers here Captain. We just finished locking down engineering. Still sorting the EPS overloads as well which until we’ve tracked those down and ran bypasses is preventing troubleshooting most other power related issues. However, with the engines still offline I doubt the RCS thrusters got the power to break us free. I might be able to try to get us a phaser burst or two from the emergency batteries if you wanted to take a shot. Or maybe a deflector pulse to try to disrupt the tractor beam. But it could also cause more harm then good at this point…=/\= She said

Lt Ruby Embers CE

=^=Well why you are thinking that over, lock down the rest of our systems. It looks like we have another ship incoming in about 2 minutes.=^=

Toby had been trying to keep a low profile and had been taking notes on how the cadets were reacting and what the senior staff were doing. Performance was key and he was there to ensure that the standards were high and to keep an eye on any potential future agents. He had been about to head to Engineering when he was informed that the XO had been killed. Blown up by an exploding conduit. That made him the most experienced senior officer on board (aside from the Captain). Torn between his primary mission and wanting to help out in any way he could, he turned on his heels and headed to the bridge.

Moments later he exited the turbolift and headed to the XO’s chair next to the Captain. He walked over to the Captain.
“Captain, I gather you’re down an XO. I’m willing to step up, if only temporarily.” He stated bluntly.

Commander Atob “Toby” Th’kylret (XO)

Lieutenant Demil Lis
Chief Science Officer

Aaron tried not to grind his teeth, the last thing he wanted was their observer running around his ship giving orders. He forced himself to take a deep breath, the ship came first. His personal feelings had to come later, and he could sort them out after they got out of this mess. Right now he needed to get his crew back and the Challenger home.

“Fine, temporarily,” he said looking Toby in the eyes. “Take your pick, help with engineering, or see if you can track down our Chief Medical Officer.”

Capt Foley - CO

Toby nodded, suspecting how the Captain felt about having him.

“I’m running a scan for the CMO’s biosigns now Captain,” Zunara called from the Security Station.

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

The scans still could not penetrate the hull of the other ship and there were no signs of the Doctor anywhere. The deck 5 airlock seemed to be the first one that was inside the enemy ship perhaps a scan from there might reveal more.

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

“Where exactly did they connect to the Challenger?”

Capt Foley - CO
OOC: for whoever looks into it.

Basically soft dock around the entire saucer around deck 5, leaving 4 to 1 likely inside the unknown ship.

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

Toby pulled up the results of the scan from the XO’s chair just to assess the situation to ascertain where he was best suited to help. Noting the results he sighed.
“I’ll head to deck 5, it seems that’s inside the ship already, I’ll run a scan from there for our Doctor.” He stated and then tapped his comm badge =^= Any security cadets please meet me on deck 5. =^= he then nodded to Foley.
“I’ll keep you informed Captain.” With that he turned on his heels and headed to deck 5.

Commander Atob “Toby” Th’kylret (XO)

Aaron nodded back. “Ideas anyone? How do we get out of this mess,” Aaron asked as he looked around the bridge crew.

Capt Foley - CO

Aaron thought for a moment as he started at the screen. “Try hailing the ship. Let’s see if someone out there is listening.”

“Channel open sir.”

Talking a deep breath, he stood up. =^=This is Captain Foley of the Federation starship Challenger. Can you hear me? I’d like to talk to whoever is in charge about releasing our ship.=^=

Capt Foley - CO

Zunara leaned forward intently, watching the viewscreen for any sign of ill-intent.

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

At first there was nothing, like nothing like there was no signal being sent at all. Was the power working to the comms array. It checked out ok, and then they heard it. A High pitch hum, it was osculating to prefect to be noise.

Then a Giant Transwarp conduit appeared , as quickly as it opened the alien vessel went to trans warp as did the challenger now attached to it hull.

[30seconds in Transwarp]

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

Aaron’s eyes went wide as the ship entered the conduit, dragging the Challenger behind it.

“Lieutenant Lis, where is it taking us?”

Capt Foley - CO

“Working on a best guess, sir,” Demil replied.

Lieutenant Demil Lis
Chief Science Officer

As Lieutenant Demil searched for answers the ship was being whisked away to some unknown destination. It was hard to tell where but the current indications were that the conduit was headed to the far side of the delta quadrant maybe further.
[2 Min in Transwarp]

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

Suddenly over the ships combadge/comms systems…

=/\=Rox to Challenger. Come in please.=/\=

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

Aaron sat up straight in his chair. =^=Doctor, can you hear me? Where are you?=^=

=/\=Captain,=/\= Rox’s voice went up slightly, relief was clear in the tone. =/\=I’m on the alien ship. I’m told you are docked. There is some kind of malfunction with the computer AI and possibly deeper problems. Is everyone alright?=/\=

=^=I guess you could call it docked. We are mostly alright here, just a few bumps and scrapes. How are you holding up?=^=

“I’m struggling for a fix on an exact location, but we appear to be headed for somewhere in the Delta Quadrant.”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

[4 Min in Transwarp]

Bump

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

“Should I arm phasers Captain, we don’t know what kind of welcoming party we should expect.”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

“Negative Lieutenant. We also don’t want to start an interstellar incident. But be ready just in case we end up in a bad situation. Have shields on standby for whenever we finally drop out of this conduit. And hopefully we’ll be able to find a way home still.”

Capt Foley - CO

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

Capt Foley - CO

“Aye Captain,” Zunara replied.

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

=^= Atob to Foley, we’re entering the airlock now Captain, the Doctor is on the other side, about 75 decks up. We’ll be in touch with an update. Atob out. =^=

Commander Atob “Toby” Th’kylret (XO)

=/\=I’m grateful to have Ril with me, Sir.” There was a pause, “Captain, there is something very dangerous on this ship, but I’m told it is vital to their survival. Avoid the forest at all costs, Sir.=/\=

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

=^=Noted about the forests. How dangerous are we talking about? And any luck discovering what the problem they are having is?=^=

As Aaron waited he switched over to the Commander’s comm channel. =^=I’ve been told that we should avoid the forest at all costs. Try not to get yourself killed Commander.=^=

Capt Foley - CO

=/\=Without a better term for it, Captain, I can only describe it as psychic vampirism and forced tele-empathic intimacy and manipulation. Psychic projection and I think some limited telekinesis as well. It’s very strong and very large. It’s vine like but can form itself into a humanoid shape. There is some kind of toxin in the vines that is excruciatingly painful if it touches you.” She wished she had more information to give him, but the thing had destroyed her tricorder. “Talara, one of the crew members, has been able to open the airlock, but she said she is unable to gain control of the security systems. That you must be very cautious. Apparently the rest of the crew is in some type of stasis sleep. She was woken because the vine creature woke.=/\=

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

=^=We don’t exactly have a lot of experience in that kind of entity. How do they believe that we can help them? And is it going to be safe for our away team to enter?=^=

Capt Foley - CO

“Aren’t vampires supposed to be creatures of… fantasy on Earth?”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

“It’s not unheard of Lieutenant,” Aaron said looking over at Zunara. “Think of it as more a psychic parasite. It’s feeding off of your thoughts.”

=/\=Stay out of the forest, no matter what your mind thinks it hears or sees. The problem seems to be with the computer core and the programming for their AI. Talara said their people do not believe in weapons. They will only encounter maintenance drones. As long as our people do not disturb them, they will be ignored. She is going to set up directional lighting to guide the team to us.=/\=

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

“How is the stasis maintained? Would we be able to wake additional members of their crew to help us?”

Lieutenant Demil Lis
Chief Science Officer

“Good question.”

=^=Understood Doctor. I’ll let the away team know. Any chance that we could wake up other members of their crew to help us?=^=

=/\=I’m sorry captain. The health risk is too great until we know more.=/\=

As Aaron waited, he switched comm channels back to the away team.

=^=Foley to Away Team. Be advised, you should be seeing directional lighting soon to help lead you. Additionally, do not disturb any ship maintenance drones that you may encounter. The ship should not take any preemptive defensive actions.=^=

Capt Foley - CO

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

“Weapons are on standby Captain,” Zunara reported.

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

“Understood Lieutenant. While we wait, keep trying to see if we can get any more scans of the ship, anything we can do to help the away team.”

Capt Foley - CO

=^=Understood Lieutenant. The away team is en route. Is there anything else we can do from here?=^=

Capt Foley - CO

=/\=Keep an eye on the life signs of the away team. If there is any distress bring them home, or let me know and I will find them.=/\=

Lt. Rox, Chief Medical Officer

=^=Understood Lieutenant. Stay safe.=^=

Aaron looked around the bridge and took in everything. He had still a lot of questions, and no where near enough answers yet. But what he could do is tart with some of the simple answers he still needed.

“Alright, let’s get back to the basics. Lt Zunara, I want a head count and update on the ships personnel. Work with Cmdr. Arlander on update on our casualties. Lt Lis, I want to know everything we know about where we are, what’s out there, and what we know about this alien ship. Engineering, status update on the ship. Let’s get to work people.”

Capt Foley - CO

With a snap, The Challenger and her crew, along with the alien vessel dropped out of trans warp.

Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire

As they dropped out of transwarp Aaron stood up. “Are we able to tell where we are?”

Capt Foley - CO

“Well, we’ve definitely moved.” Zunara said pointedly.

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

Demil didn’t immediately reply, cross-referencing star charts and both short- and long-range scans.

“Thank you Lieutenant,” Aaron said trying to keep the frustration out of his voice. “Where are we at with a ship crew head count?”

Capt Foley - CO
