(OCC: I assumed that quarters are shared by lower deck personnel on the USS Challenger, if that’s wrong feel free to let me know.)IC:
~ Pre-Sim ~Jethro took a step back as he looked at the finished product of his berthing compartment in the lower deck crew courters. He had been aboard numerous starships since he was born. On all styles, sizes, and class of ship, but Jethro had always been lucked to be assigned to private quarters with family or friends. Rooms that were like full on apartments with spacious living rooms. However, his current bunk was nothing more than a small, standard humanoid fitting, rectangular cut-out in the metal wall of the ship. Just enough space for him to sit up comfortably with an inch or so to spare between his head and the ceiling of his bunk cubby. The mattress thin fitting with a standard Starfleet issue orange blanket. And the standard issue triangle shaped wedge pillow.
The bunk was identically to the multitude of others just like it in the lower deck quarters. The stacks of uniform cubby bunks were three high for as far as his eye could see. With having boarded the USS Challenger Jethro did not mind in it as he held on to the ladder rung looking wt his handy work. In fact, he reviled in it. It made the whole reality of having his first posting as member of Starfleet feel even more concrete. Even if this starship was just a training ship. This was Starfleet. And it wasn’t like his berthing compartment was a carbon copy of the other bunks.
Cadet Erik Jethro Avant, like the other lower decks personnel, had decorated the spartan walls with a few memorability. First there was a three model of his the ship he was born on the USS Lovelace, a Challenger Class starship. There of course was a poster of the most famous Denobluan doctor to have served in Starfleet aboard the NX-01 Enterprise, Dr. Feezal Pholx. There were three smaller posters of Dr. Leonard McCoy, Dr. Beverly Crushed, and the EMH Doctor from the USS Voyager. There was a digital photo of Jethro when he was 14 with his mother’s other two husbands (his other fathers) and two of their other wives (his other mothers). Then a digital photo graph of Jethro when he was 8 with his 7 siblings (all from his mother’s other marriages). Then of course was a digital photo of him, his father, and his mother on the surface of an alien planet with Jethro with six years-old. It was planet that the USS Lovelace had just surveyed that day.
Lastly there was physical photo in a frame of Jethro and his father in Okinawa, Japan the day that Jethro moved into his dorm at the Daystrom Research Institute. Jethro smiled at his decorations with a wide and sentinel smile.
=/\= Cadet Erik Jethro Avant to the Counselor, Lieutenant Commander Viveca Arlander. I was wondering when you had a free appointment space for me to come check-in for my reporting pysche evaluation. =/\=
He climbed down the ladder and leaned against the wall, waiting for a reply to come through over the comm-badge.

=^=I am available now if you’re free Cadet, I’ll be down in my office for next couple of hours completing some paperwork and updating some files, but I can fit you in at any point during that time no problem, just come on by.=^= The counselor’s voice sounded over comms.

=^= Acknowledged Commander, I will be right up. See you in fifteen minutes. =^=
Jethro pushed off the wall and straightened up. He took one final look up at his newly decorated. There was a smile on his fave that he could just not contain, even if that smile was just to himself. It had take n him 18 long years to get this point. 18 years since he first knew that he wanted to be in Starfleet like his mother. To be back out among the stars - helping those in need, exploring and coming across new civilizations. And it was not without his challenges. But Jethro had patients, and he was a stubborn - if his record reflected anything it was that. He was just one more official check-in away from being allowed to go officially on duty. One more meeting and then his was a Starfleet Doctor.
Jethro turned on his heel and headed down the corridor to the turbo lifts. He tried to minimize the bounce in his step. Jethro had known how visible his excited energy had been since he first stepped on deck of the USS Challenger. It was something that he been very aware as he passed the other Starfleet personnel in the hallways, so he tried to contain like the magnetic bottles that house anti-matter or neural-suppressant hypospray for dangerous alpha-ways. He wanted to come off as a professional not some excited kid finally living his life long dream, especially since he was a doctor.
At the Counselor’s office door, Jethro pressed the chime on the outer panel. “Cadet Erik Jethro Avant for Lieutenant Command Viveca Arlander reporting for psych evaluation,” the young cadet announced over the speaker. He waited at the door for the Lieutenant Commander to come to the door or beckon him in.

“Come in,” Viveca called, causing the door to her office slide open, she sat at her desk, but she glanced up and gave a smile, “Come on in Cadet, if you’d like anything from the replicator before we get started, help yourself,” she nodded toward the wall where the device sat, “Otherwise, have a seat and we’ll get started.”
