Lanna stood by the crates and marked them as secure, her family was off enjoying the last little bit of time off they had left. Excitement raced deep inside years of research and field test had finally paid off. They would finally be able to see the inner-core of the stellar nursery. The idea was as old as Heinrich Hertz and his experiments on locating radio frequencies in the late 1800’s, or maybe it was more a kin to tossing a net over a school of fish. She was not certain. Well lets get this party started she thought.

Mira came running up moments later, “Mom, ” she said looking around ” Commander you know I’m responsible for security you should have called me ” she said as she gave her a scolding look. “Once they are onboard I will hang out till they are secured in engineering” she said

Lanna was about to response when the call from the Challenger came in.

OOC: if someone from engineering , security or science can pick this up that would be amazing. If you are a Science nerd on the ship you would know who Lana is, she is the leading expert on stellar phenomena renown for her work on stellar nurseries. She has been the key note speaker at the science symposium multiple times including this year. It’s likely that some of the science personal on the ship would have attended some of most of the conference. Just some RP aides, if you want some specifics feel fee to ping me in discord

The incoming call from the Challenger was cut short. Lanna gave ger daughter and eye brow raise, “Odd” she noted.

“Lieutenant, ” she said to her daughter. “My prerogative if I want to do the mundane, besides I want to make sure they are treated well” she said with a grin.

Mira moved to the other side of the equipment and leaned against the wall. “Wonder how long this will take, we both still need to plan for the Ball tonight.” he noted.

Cadet John entered the cargo bay with a padd and went through the process of signing in all the new gear and with a few other cadets, they were putting them in the proper areas as cadet. John was loading the last bit of supplies onto a hover cart. He looked around to make sure nothing else was out of place and he looked over the padd. Everything was accounted for.

“Two heads are better than one Cadet,” a voice said from behind Forster as Zunara crossed into the room behind him, “That is - I will be doing what I can to help you, but I would like you to take the lead on this one.”

Lanna and Mira looked at the other officers, “Lieutenant, Cadet” Lanna said, her voice carried a sense of authority that matched her rank as she moved to great the two. Lanna was not usually one for formalities but given this was a ship that was largely staffed by the academy, she decided to wait and let them follow protocol. Mira in her security uniform moved up next to her mother, the rank of Lieutenant pined collar.

“I trust there were no issues with the transport Lieutenant?” Zunara asked.

Mir turned to her mother. “Commander, you should go get ready” she noted before responding. Lanna’s eyes narrow as if she was going to protest and then “As you say, If you excuse me ” he said turning to leave the bay. Mira smiledat the Lieutenant, “It’s was a smooth trip, Lieutenant?” she asked her voice indicated she wanted a name.

With that Mira transfered the manifest to the Lieutenant and began to open each of the crates so they could be inspected. They looked more like photon torpedo’s that probes the propultion system was about double that of a normal probe. There are seems down the sides of the probe that appeared to mark out two larg oblong triangles, their purpose was unclear. All scans for the probes indicated that they were safe and not omitting anything harmfull. Scans of the interior would show nothing, the shielding would prevent any scan of the inside.

“Everything should be in order” she noted moving to the side.

Mira looked at her PADD and shifted around some duty assingments on Starbarse 21. Being the assitant to the chief of security certainly had it’s benifits but it also meant she got the brunt of the work.

“Interesting shape of probe Lieutenant,” Zunara noted, “If I didn’t know better, I’d say they looked like weapons.”

Mira’s lips twisted into a sort of smirk as she ran her hand along the surface to find the seem. “Good eye Lieutenant, we started with a phonton torpedo casing it’s shape and size allowed for better shielding.” she said as her hand came to a stop she pressed down and raised the triangle which was clearly part of an array. “We needed to get the probe deeper into the nursury where the radiation was causing havok on a stadard probe. This way the array stays shielded until its in position hopefully protecting the more delicate parts. ” she noted

“Starfleet may benefit from probe technology such as this,” Zunara tapped his chin thoughtfully, “Maybe something to think about?”
