John walked down the halls. He was finally here finally on a Starfleet vessel. After dropping his things off in his quarters, he made his way to the security office to introduce himself to the chief of security. As he approached the door, he straightened his uniform and pressed the bell. As he heard the noise on the other side of the door, he took a deep breath and prepared himself.

“Enter,” said a neutral voice from behind the door, as the doors parted, Forster saw a rather stone faced Bolian male sitting at the office’s main desk. A stack of PADDs filled one corner of the desk, a cup of Raktajino still steaming in the other.

“Cadet Forster? Take a seat.”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

John entered the office he pushed the nervous feels away as he walked for for the chair a badge on his belt can be seen. He reached the chair and took a seat. The COS looked tired to John he didn’t want to keep him from his work

John grabbed the badge and placed it on the table “this is my mother’s badge she was COS of the UEG: Aurora it went missing with all hand when I was 15. No black box, wreckage or escape pots were found. This was the badge she used. I keep it as a reminder and a good luck charm” he said “me and her we were always the black sheeps of the family my mom divorced my dad who was a well-known doctor. My three older brothers chose to stay with my dad. I stayed with my mom.” he said as his eyes twinkle with remembrance.

“I don’t think I’ve heard of the UEG, care to enlighten me?”

John looked at “really the UEG was a very old mining company call United Earth Government. They started to grow around the time Warp 5 was becoming more common and money was still a symbol of power and they were Abel to stay is b business. Eventually, less and less people started working for them because the condition of their ships were old and the captains were stubborn young men. After the loss of the Aurora the company had to finally close their doors and that’s when the lawsuit happened. The president and vice president were sent to prison and some enforcers were sent to penal colonie and that was the end of the UEG” he said “any questions class” he added as a joke “ sorry about the lecture. I really enjoyed earth history.”

“You certainly know your history Cadet, could make you one hell of an Intelligence Officer one day, if that was something you were interested in?”

John smiled “Well sir I only know so much from that because my family was part of that. If it is ok with you can I have some shifts on the bridge at the tactical station. I have over 160 hours of simulation time. Also during the Kobayashi Maru simulation, my instructor noted that I held myself together very well” he said clipping the old badge to his belt again.

Zunara grinned, “Fascinating, if you don’t mind, I would like to watch you as you work.”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

John lean forward “ during the simulation. I managed to take out 4 out of 5 vessels. I had to realign the targeting system on the fly. By trial and error while keeping the shields rotated, but in the end, one of the simulated and me vessels got a lucky torpedo shot to our weapons array so with phasers not being used I transferred all remaining power to the shields and used the rest of the torpedoes. The fifth vessel was disabled, but we were dead in the water with a warp core breach, and that ended the simulation” he said leaning back in his chair, fully relaxing now

“So you are willing to expand your knowledge into other fields on a starship? Realigning the torpedo targeting systems must’ve taken some significant Engineering skills?”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

John looked at him “ realign the targeting system is not engineering. Any one who is a tactical officer knows how to check there system before a shoot out happens. During simulations, I always check that system when I first sit down during the simulation I found the targeting computer was off by 65%. But unfortunately, the fire fight started before I had a chance to fix it so I had to shoot adjust and shoot again trail by error” he said. The he looked at the COS “ so tell me a little bit about the security on the ship what shift do you rotate and are there usually any trouble areas?” He asked

“I’d like to have you stand watch at the mess hall first,” Zunara said, rising quickly, “I’ve heard some reports of… unrest between some of the new cadets. Think you can handle that Mr. Forster?”

John rise quickly also “ I sure can sir I am an expert at verbal judo” he joked. As the cadet and got to his feet, he straightened his uniform.
