The lower decks were always a point of concern, where things could go wrong, unnoticed by the hustle of the bridge.

The doors opened, and Pilar strode into the corridor, she entered the main Engineering deck and was immediately greeted by the hum of machinery and the sharp scent of warp core fumes. Lieutenant Winterbourne was on the bridge but she expected him at any moment.
