Vincent was engaged in a lively discussion with a group of nurses, reviewing the latest medical equipment updates and sharing a few jokes about the latest malfunctioning diagnostic tool. The atmosphere was warm and collegial, filled with the sounds of laughter and light banter.

As Vincent was about to delve into a particularly amusing story about an unexpected glitch in the bio-scanner, the doors to the sickbay swished open. The figure of a cadet appeared, and Vincent’s attention shifted immediately.

Newly arrived cadet Nariman briskly walks towards the sickbay. Relatively fit and healthy he would be the last person one would expect in sickbay. In this case, that expectation rings true because Nariman is heading to the sickbay to check-in with the Chief Medical Officer. Standard procedure for new cadets.

He enters sickbay and announces “Cadet Nariman boarding physical.”

Vincent excused himself from the nurses with a nod, his smile never fading as he approached the cadet. “Excuse me, everyone. It seems I have a new face to welcome.”

Turning to Cadet Nariman, Vincent extended a friendly hand. “Cadet Nariman, welcome aboard! I’m Dr. Vincent, the Chief Medical Officer here on the USS Challenger. It’s standard procedure for new cadets to check in with me for your boarding physical. How are you today?”

He gestured towards an empty biobed and a nearby workstation where Nariman could prepare for the physical. “Please, take a seat here, and we’ll get started. I’m sure we’ll have everything wrapped up quickly. If you have any questions or need anything, just let me know.”

As the cadet moved to the biobed, Vincent cast a quick glance at the nurses, signaling them to continue with their tasks. He then focused his attention back on Cadet Nariman, ready to conduct a thorough and welcoming examination.

“So, Cadet Nariman, tell me a little about yourself while we get you settled in. How has your experience been so far?” Vincent inquired, aiming to make the cadet feel as comfortable as possible in his new environment.
