(Snip)Sho and his partner Trig nodded. “Seems straightforward.”
Neither was sure why the lounge host was calling the shots, but at this moment it wasn’t worth arguing over the chain of command.
“When you are ready, we can go in first to the cargo bay and give you cover while you head for the cargo.”
NE Sho Salot & Trig - Security
Zachariah offered a nod towards the two nameless ensigns.
“Whenever you’re ready, lead the way” he said softly. He was going to be okay, he had faith. Demara seemed like she knew what she was doing and Zachariah put trust in her to keep him alive and not being dragged up to sickbay.

Demara nodded to the security officers and let them enter, drawing attention.
Inside the cargo bay, a figure was looming over one of the containers from the archaological dig. The lid was off and sat on the floor by their feet. At the sound of the door, they aimed a weapon and took shelter behind the stacks of containers that were their precious cargo.
Demara nodded to Conway and slipped into the cargo bay quickly, veering to the right and keeping to the perimeter. There was cargo lining the perimeter, but every stack had space to walk around. She pressed an index finger to her lips as she and Zachariah hid. Armed with the tiny phaser in her right hand, she held up her left hand to signal that they were to wait. It was entirely possible that that there was a gleam of exhilaration in her eyes. Or maybe it was just the lighting.
~Mischief Maker
He just followed.
Honestly he was out of his depth, plus Demara had the phaser and unfortunately he didn’t. She also seemed like she could hold her own better than he could. He had never met her before nevermind seen her in conflict but he already had faith in her, she seemed to know what she was doing. This clearly wasn’t her first rodeo. He wasn’t hiding the fact that it was most definitely his.
Zachariah noted the look of excitement in her eyes and he began to ponder what her history was. There was clearly something about her that he didn’t know but like he’d already established, this most definitely wasn’t the time. Maybe he’d visit her lounge after everything had calmed down and ask her the question. If she’d tell him or not, he wasn’t entirely sure.
The young cadet stopped at her signal and nodded. Just to be safe, he wrapped his hand around a heavy and long yet thin box he could use as a whacking stick just in case everything went wrong.

And Sho and Trig went straight into the cargo bay, they took up a forward position behind a couple of crates with an easy view of the containers in question. Their phasers pointed over the containers, they watched as the intruder took shelter behind their stack of containers.
“Security! Put your weapon down and step out from behind the containers. We don’t want to have to shoot you!”
NE Sho Salot & Trig - Security
The intruder ducked out briefly and fired in their direction. The blast hit the side of the container the security officers were hiding behind and it was clear that whatever disruptor the person was using was not on a stun setting.
Demara gestured to Zachariah to follow her and she dashed to another set of crates and waited. She tilted her head to peek out slightly and then leaned back in to the doctor. “We’re going to try and sneak up behind and if i have to stun them, I will. They were looking for something in the crates and if they found, it, our job is to make sure they don’t get to take it with them in an escape.”
~Mischief Maker
The young medical cadet had followed the Challenger’s lounge host as they had moved behind another set of crates when he’d been gestured to do so. “They’re shooting to kill”.
It came out with no filter. The security duo had made their instructions clear and precise and Zachariah had watched the intruder shoot back with the intention of ensuring that the two security officers didn’t leave the storage bay. Their intruder appeared to have no qualms with ending lives to get what they wanted, and that concerned Zachariah even more than everything else that was going on.
“You have the phaser. You lead the way” he spoke quietly to Demara, pretending his hardest to have a lot more confident than he was actually feeling.

Sho looked over at Trig, “well someone is playing for keeps. Keep it on stun, we don’t want to hurt our own people.”
With a nod Trig leveled his phaser and fired off a blast back towards the intruder. As he ducked back behind the container, Sho came out and fired off a shot.
“This is your last chance to come out and surrender peacefully,” Sho called out towards the intruder.
NE Sho & Trig - Security
The intruder said nothing.
From their vantage point, Demara and Conway could see the intruder in moments when they shifted their position. She gestured to Sho and Trig that she was going to circle around and come up from behind.
Demara leaned in to Zachariah, her mouth unavoidably close to his ear. “We’re going to come around the back, once we start moving, count in your head to three and then throw that thing in your hands out behind our intruder. I need the distraction.”
She looked back at their intruder who was seemingly going to stand up and Demara signalled to the others before moving out into the open towards the intruder. She’d make a splashier move once Conway did his part.
~Mischief Maker
He offered her a nod.
Demara was uncomfortably close, but it was the best way to ensure that their new friend didn’t overhear them and to ensure that they didn’t give themselves away. The young cadet listened to her orders and offered her a nod when she expressed her plan. He didn’t like it, but at least he didn’t have to reveal his position so the risk of him taking a blast to the face was low.
Zachariah watched as Demara made her move into the open and he offered her another nod. His eyes glanced down to the object he’d grabbed to use as a weapon just in case and he took a second to judge it’s weight before he popped up from his hiding place. With a grunt of effort, he hurled the object at full force towards their intruder before ducking back down into his hiding spot.
He just had to hope Demara would do her bit next.
Cadet Zachariah Conway - Medical
By the way she moved it would be easy to forget that she she just had field treatment for the internal bleeding. In fact, the woman seemed possessed of an intense focus and a great ability to compartmentalize. She signalled to the security guards to rush their intruder just as the metal box hit the ground.
The intruder turned instinctively towards the sounds, completely blind to the security duo. But the slim figure caught Demara out of the corner of their eye and fired a shot in her direction. She dove into a tidy forward roll, avoiding the shot, and then fired at the dark clad figure, just clipping their shoulder.
The intruder stumbled to the side but fired again at Demara as she was ducking behind their precious cargo, ever so close to the intruder. Demara grunted but stayed hidden, letting the others handle it from there. She winced as if she was hurt.
~Mischief Maker
As the box hit the ground Sho and Trig were already on the move, sprinting towards the intruder. As they ran they saw the intruder turn and shoot towards Demara. As she ducked they fired off their own phaser blasts to distract the intruder away from where Demara ducked back for cover.
Turning the corner of the crate they had last seen the intruder duck behind, Sho let out a blind shot, hoping to catch the intruder.
NE Sho & Trig - Security
Zachariah watched as Demara winced.
In the chaos of it all, he forgot that only a half hour prior (if that) he had been treating her for internal bleeding. She hadn’t had chance to rest and heal, instead she’d thrown herself straight into trying to stop an intruder from stealing the cargo. In hindsight, he should have tried to stop her from getting involved in this fight. He doubted he would have been successful, but he definitely should have tried.
The young cadet kept his head down as phaser blasts flew around everywhere.
Cadet Zachariah Conway - Medical
Sho’s shot hit the intruder in the shoulder and it was enough to make the person stumble sideways.
Demara checked her surroundings and crept back towards Conway, sitting on the deck beside him. She looked unsteady and was wobbling even as she sat. “They’ve got it from here,” she said, before passing out against him. As her arm fell away, it was clear she had taken a disruptor hit to the side of her upper abdomen and the nasty wound was visible through the hole in her garment.
~Mischief Maker
“Got him!” Sho called out as he started running towards the intruder. As he came running, he tackled him to the ground, both their weapons skidding across the cargo bay. After a bit of back and forth, Sho finally got him into a full body hold while Trig stood over the intruder, phaser pointed directly at his chest.
Never taking his eyes off the intruder, Trig reached up and tapped his commbadge. =^=Bridge. We’ve got the intruder captured. Beam him directly to the brig. And, we could probably use a medical team down here when you get a chance.=^=
=^=Acknowledged.=^= Foley called back as the intruder dematerialized.
NE Sho & Trig
Finally everything had calmed down.
The intruder was gone, security having done their job beautifully resulting in the detention of their stow-away. It meant he could actually have a second to process the chaos which had ensued. He was a doctor who’d been dragged into a showdown which he honestly didn’t know if he would walk away from and it had scared him more than he would ever admit.
He took a few seconds to check himself over. He had come out of the incident unscathed somehow. He was intact, if not a little sweat coated. All in all, it could have gone much worse for him.
Demara made her way towards him and sat besides him. He offered her a slight smile as she spoke. Then she blacked out. Her weight fell against him and it took a second for his brain to kick back in and it took a second for him to make an attempt to actually catch her. He lowered her to the floor gently, careful to protect her head from a proper bump off the cold metal.
“You’re really having a bad day” he muttered to himself as he cast his eyes over her. He noted the obvious disruptor hit to the side of her upper abdomen and he let out a nod. He was no longer playing security, he was back to playing doctor. Instinctively, he pulled the tricorder from wherever he had stashed it after it’s previous use and began to scan Demara with one hand whilst his other reached for his commbadge.
