Suddenly, the ship shook like it had been hit (while still at warp). Power flickered and the ship went automatically to red alert.“We took a direct hit to power distribution on Deck 5! It causes uneven power throughout the deck and is spreading,” one of the NEs called out. “Blown EPS relays, manifold glitches. I’m not sure we can keep steady power to essential systems.”
~Mischief Maker
Tor looked around and spied the new Cadet and yelled “Garret! With me!” Just then the comms activated. =^=Foley to Engineering. How bad is it?=^= Tor tapped his commbadge and said =/\= Tor here, Captain. It’s bad. We need to take all systems off line for at least ten minutes so we can cycle the relays, clear the overloads, and recalibrate the power distribution. And we need to drop warp now! =/\= He looked at Garret and said “Start taking all non-essential systems off line right away at their main power junctions. Prioritize safety systems and life support for remaining online… and weapons and shields. And Cadet?” He looked at the fledgling officer and set a large blue hand on their shoulder. “That impact felt like something hit us… meaning a weapon. I may be wrong, but take a phaser with you, okay?” He nodded and then went to the Main Engineering Control station and began trying to get ahead of the cascading power surges.
Tor, CE
=^=Understood. Get me shields back as quickly as possible. I don’t want to be a sitting duck.=^=
Switching channels Aaron opened a ship wide channel. =^=All hands brace for emergency stop.=^=
Foley, CO
“Lieutenant Tor, I need a full report on the structural integrity of Deck 5. Prioritize repairs on life support and containment fields.”
Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)“Lieutenant Lis, since the cargo is fine, you can review senor data and see if we can determine how the Orions manage to catch us off guard, and Lieutenant Tor, coordinate getting the systems are back online, then make sure repairs on Deck 5 are underway afterwards.”
Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)The cascade had made it to the Quantum Physics Lab and shut it down and some parts of engineering, but so far hadn’t affected critical systems. But there was notable damage to relays around Holodecks 1 and 2.

=^=Foley to Engineering. How are we looking Chief?=^=
Capt Foley - CO (crosspost)
It had been a few minutes since his last message, but it probably didn’t feel like it to the engineers.
=^=Foley to Engineering. Chief, I need something here. How long until we can get shields back?=^=Capt Foley - CO (crosspost)
Before Tor could reply, the ship was shook hard. The comm to the bridge was still open so the very lous person up there reporting was heard down in Engineering as well. =/\=Direct hit! Deck 5 again. Shields at 80%.=/\= The ship shook again, even harder. =/\=Damage to port nacel-=/\= Another hit. =/\=Direct hit to Deck 5, Power Distribution. We having power issues all over the ship. Shields are fluctuating. Sensors are… variable.=/\=

Pilar’s boots pounded against the deck as she sprinted through the narrow corridors of the starship towards Engineering. The alarms wailed continuously and urgent voices rang out over the comms, blending into a backdrop of chaos that was now all too familiar. Each shudder of the ship was felt deep in her bones, a reminder of the assault they were under.
As she reached the hatch to Engineering, another violent jolt nearly threw her off balance. She gritted her teeth, grabbed the edge of the door for support, and pushed herself through the doors.
Engineering was busy with frantic activity. Crew members darted between consoles, their faces etched with determination and fear. The air was thick with the acrid smell of burning circuits. She could feel the heat of the overworked systems radiating even from where she was.
“Everything is going to be okay” she called out, her voice cutting through the room as she ran to a console to assist. She wasn’t confident in her statement but she needed to keep the crew going so they could figure out how to keep the ship together until the Orion attack passed. “Let’s try to keep these systems functional. Many lives on this ship depend on it.”Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)“No kidding!!!” came the voice of the Chief Engineer who was at that moment on the deck, under a console, covered in black marks across his uniform and blue-skinned face. “It would really help us out, Commander, if you could maybe NOT let them keep shooting at us. I’m not sure who’s driving this thing, but tell them to turn away from the weapons fire for a change.”
Tor, CE
“Lieutenant, we’re reading damage to Deck 6, but it’s hard to get accurate details as sensors are still fluctuating,” of the NE Haphazard called over.
~Mischief Maker
=^=Foley to Engineering. Commander give me some good news.=^=
Capt Foley - CO (crosspost)
Pilar’s gaze swept across the chaotic scene in Engineering. The sight of her crew, tired, injured, yet relentlessly pushing forward. She dropped to her knees beside
“Tor, we don’t have the luxury to avoid every hit,” she said, her tone firm but not unkind. “Our focus is here. We need power to shields and engines. How are we on rerouting those conduits?”“Trying, but with the fluctuations and cascading surges, its not straight forward, Commander.”
She turned to address the rest of the crew, her eyes fierce and commanding. “Listen up! Prioritize stabilizing our power. We need those shields at full capacity and propulsion back to maneuvering status. Anything less and we’re sitting ducks.”
When the Captain’s voice came over comms, she responded =^=Captain, We’re doing everything we can down here, but we need a break from the bombardment. Can you shake them off our tail, even for a minute?=^=Pilar’s fingers flew over her console, initiating emergency protocols to divert what little power they could spare to the critical areas. “NE Davis, get damage control teams to Deck 6 immediately. Make sure they’re equipped for hull breaches and fires.”
“Aye, Commander,” NE Davis responded, quickly relaying the orders through the comms.
Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)=^=You just got your break X. But I’d recommend working fast, as it’s only a matter of time before they come back around.=^=
Capt Foley - CO (crosspost)
=^=Acknowledged, Captain.=^=
Tor slid out from under the console and then moved to the console Halcyone was on. He didn’t ask, he just pushed her to the side with his hip and said “If you want to help, monitor the distribution grid and make sure that we aren’t overtaxing the secondary power couplings. If you see it start to spike into the red, shut down life support, reroute the shields through that system, and I will bypass the capacity thresholds on the damaged systems and run life support through there. Besides… not like we’ll need life support if we get blown to pieces, now will we?”
Tor, CE
Currently, it looked like the biggest issues were on the 3 surrounding decks, besides shields of course, and the fact that they couldn’t maintain a warp bubble right now. Reports were coming in about conduits bursting on Decks 5, 6 and 7, with some issues cropping up on 3 at EPS Support. The most concerning now were likely that the power fluctuations were creeping towards the deuterium pumps and reactors.
~Mischief Maker
Pilar glared at Tor, her jaw tightening it was an ususal demeanor for her. However, she had always found his arrogance infuriating and erring on the side of insubordination, but now, in the heat of battle, it was more than a nuisance, it was dangerous. She refused to let him push her aside, not when so much was at stake.
“Lieutenant Tor, you handle the power fluctuations creeping towards the deuterium pumps and reactors, get engineers on decks 6 & 7, NE Davis can manage the distribution grid, I can manage this console.” Her voice was commanding but brooking no argument. She maintained her stance over her console, her fingers moving over the controls as she monitored the power levels.
As she worked, she kept an ear out for the status reports streaming in from various parts of the ship. Pilar’s eyes studying the readouts, noting the alarming rise in temperature and pressure around the deuterium storage. She tapped into the emergency protocols, rerouting power away from non-essential systems to stabilize the pumps.
“Hang in there, everyone,” she murmured to herself, her fingers dancing over the controls. “We’re not done yet.”
=^=Captain, let us know when they appear again. I know it won’t do much but at least we will know where we are if or when they hit us again.=^=Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)=^=Acknowledged Commander. No promises on how much advanced notice I’ll be able to give though.=^=
Capt Foley - CO (crosspost)
NE Davis quickly jumped into action. The ship was a maze of activity, engineers and crew scrambling to contain the various crises threatening to tear them apart from within.”Distribution grid,” he muttered, making his way to the nearest access point. “That’s where I come in.”
Davis reached the control panel for the power distribution grid and immediately set to work. His fingers quickly tapped over the controls, bypassing damaged relays and rerouting power to essential systems.
“Okay, let’s see what we’re dealing with,” he said to himself, eyes scanning the readings on the console. The power fluctuations were spreading faster than he’d hoped, and the conduits were nearing their breaking point. Davis tapped into the emergency overrides, forcing a redistribution that would hopefully buy them some time.
“Commander, the deuterium pumps are critical,” he reported. “We need more hands on Deck 7 to reinforce the systems there.”NE Davis
“Already on it, Davis. We’re deploying additional teams. Hang in there. “
Davis nodded, though Pilar couldn’t see her. She felt a grim determination settle over her. This wasn’t just about surviving the immediate threat; it was about making sure the ship was still in one piece when it was over.Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)Through their combined efforts, the fluctuations on Deck 7 stopped. There were plenty of EPS manifolds and relays that would need to be replaced though. Deck 6 was about the same, but the issues on Deck 5, while having slowed, remained a problem.
Shields were still down.
~Mischief Maker
“Davis, report,” she commanded, her voice cutting through the din.
“The power distribution grid on Deck 5 is barely holding together,” Davis responded, his hands a blur as he manipulated the controls to reroute power. “We’ve managed to stabilize 7, but here, the conduits are still on the verge of blowing. If we don’t act fast, the whole grid could fail.”
Pilar nodded. “What’s our best course of action?”
“We need to divert the load from the primary conduits to the secondary power feeds,” Davis explained. “But it’s risky. We’re running out of time and one wrong move could trigger a cascade failure....also shields are still down,” said Davis.
“Okay,” said Pilar, “Do what you can, as fast as you can. Also lets get those shields up.”Commander Halcyone

As they worked, the situation with the power distribution seemed to shift… in their favour. Suddenly, shields were back. There were still glitches in the EPS network but the team was tackling one at a time and it was working.
