I’ll be fine.
This was the thought repeating through Cadet Stewart’s head as he walked through the corridor to the COS’s office.
He’d taken both basic and advanced tactical courses. Flight Control. Tactical Analysis. Hand-to-hand combat. For god’s sake, he’d even taken Interspecies Protocol to make up for his failing grade the previous year in Navigation. Yet, nothing could prepare him for the pure nerves that were hitting him as he entered the COS’s office.

“Security Cadet Stewart, reporting for duty, sir.”

“Cadet Stewart,” Lieutenant Zunara, the Challenger’s Chief of Security said formally, “At ease, take a seat. A drink from the replicator perhaps?” The Bolian Security Chief could sense that the young human was nervous, but still maintained that it was important to see how his people operated under pressure.
