||We have sixteen containers from a planet that used to be called Sacramaris,|| Kutan said. ||A joint civilian and Starfleet archaeology team has been working there for ages to see what they can uncover about a civilization that used to call the place home. We were tasked with transporting the bulk of the team’s finds to Memory Alpha for preservation and safe keeping so the researchers can continue to work with the pieces long after the dig is done. What the Breen want with a bunch of artifacts I’ll never know. It does seem unnecessary for what amounts of bits of pottery and books.||

=^=Understood. Stand by for our team to transport over. =^=
There were still to many open questions, but they at least had a clue. Aaron looked over at Pilar. “Let’s see what we can find out about that planet while we wait for the transport team to check in.”
Capt Foley - CO
After giving the team some time to check in on the cargo Aaron opened a comm channel.
=^= Foley to the away team. How does it look over there? =^=
Capt Foley - CO (crosspost)
Pilar had questions. The mention of Sacramaris piqued her interest. As Kutan finished speaking, Pilar nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the information.
When the Captain suggested they research more about Sacramaris while waiting for the transport team, Pilar agreed. She accessed the ship’s database, searching for any available data on the planet. As they awaited the response from the away team, Pilar had a feeling this was more than just a routine cargo transport mission.
Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)Her query brought up an announcement that a small group of Federation scientists received special permission to do an archaeological dig on the edge of Breen space (D7 on the Star Chart) after stumbling upon clues that led them to believe they might find something amazing there. After checking several planets in the sector, they came across one that matched the description in an artifact and deep planetary scans showed evidence of an ancient civilization. They began the fascinating work of uncovering everything about this civilization.
The team of 30 scientists of different archaeological and anthropological subfields were still there working.
An academic paper in the community referenced Sacramaris in terms of a rumour of an advanced civilization that once existed. It was said that they had technology well above anything anyone around had had at the time, and that their wealth was something they boasted of.
Based on the rumours and initial findings from the planetary scans it was estimated that the civilization existed roughly 1200 years ago.

”=^= Just establishing everything is in order ma’am, I’ll keep you posted=^=.”
-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-
=^= Understood Lieutenant. Be safe over there, but let’s get this show on the road. =^=
Aaron anxiously tapped his fingers on the armrest of his chair. The scientist in him itched to be down there in the cargo bay as soon as the crates arrived, so he could take a peak in them. Archeology wasn’t his field of specialty, but the need to answer the question of what had been discovered still gnawed at him.
But on the other hand, something about the whole situation still didn’t sit right with him. How were the attackers finding the Jarot? Not to mention they were still sitting out in the open, shields down, as they waited for the transfer.
“Ops, do a scan of the cargo ship. Look for anything that is transmitting, it could be active or even intermittent. They have to be following the ship somehow, and I doubt it’s from looking at the flight plan.
“And tactical, I’m hoping there is nothing on long range scanners that we need to be aware of.”
Capt Foley - CO
what caught Pilar’s attention was a particular academic paper referenced in the database. It spoke of rumors surrounding Sacramaris—a whisper of an advanced civilization that once flourished there, boasting technology far beyond anything known in the region at the time.
There must be something here to help us understandwhat is happening, Pilar thought, her mind racing with possibilities.
She glanced at the Star Chart displayed on the screen, focusing on the coordinates of Sacramaris.
Pilar listened to Captain Foley’s orders, as she processed the information about Sacramaris and the mysterious attackers, she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this mission than met the eye.
“Captain,” she finally spoke up, turning towards Foley, “I’ve found some intriguing details about Sacramaris. It seems there’s more to this planet than we initially thought. There are some Federation scientists on Sacramaris. Should we consider reaching out to them. Their knowledge and expertise could possibly help us figure out what is happening.”Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)“Good thinking, why don’t you reach out to them Commander. I’d be curious about what so significant about the civilization that was there, but if nothing else they would be able to authenticate the cargo. I’ll stay and monitor the cargo transfer.”
Capt Foley - CO
With a nod, Pilar proceeded to compose a message to the Federation scientists stationed on Sacramaris.
As she waited for a response, she wondered if her inquiry would uncover something significant.Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)The message was sent successfully, but given the distance, might take some time for the scientists to respond.
~Mischief Maker
Pilar leaned back in her chair, fingers drumming lightly on the console in front of her. Her mind wandered to the message she had just sent to the Federation scientists on Sacramaris. What secrets could this civilization hold? What artifacts or knowledge might be hidden within the cargo they were transporting? But she knew better than to let her imagination run wild. She needed concrete answers, verification of the cargo’s contents, and insights the scientists could provide about the civilization they had stumbled upon.
As she waited for a response, Pilar kept a watchful eye on the feed of the cargo transfer.Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)The cargo was then transferred into Cargo Bay 1 successfully.
A few minutes later, there was a message from one of the junior archaeologists on the project:
||Thank you for your inquiry, Commander. So far there isn’t too much we can share that might be helpful. The artifacts we sent to Memory Alpha have all been catalogued and are, while, extraordinary because of their high quality state, even after all this time, at least on the surface seem like ordinary items. There are some precious metals and gemstones in some of what we think are ceremonial items, and the do have value, but nothing worth attacking over certainly. There isn’t a lot known about Sacramaris, but in some of the speculation from other other places about the civilization it seemed as if they hid their advanced technology in plain sight. We’re still trying to decipher some of the symbols we found on some of the objects, but it’s slow going. The linguists are all rather excited, as you can imagine.||
~Mischief Maker
Pilar frowned as she read the message. It seemed like there was little tangible information to go on, just speculation from the archaeologists. She needed more concrete details, something that would shed light on the true nature of the cargo they had acquired.
=Thank you for the update,= Pilar responded. =Please continue your efforts to decipher the symbols and gather any additional information you can. =
This wasn’t the breakthrough she had hoped for. The artifacts might seem ordinary on the surface, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to them, something hidden underneath their mundanity.
Glancing at the feed of the cargo transfer, she saw the transfer was complete. She stood from her seat and decided she would go take a look at this cargo herself.Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)Noting that the cargo transfer was complete Aaron stood up from his chair.
“Is our crew back yet? As soon as they are on board raise shields. And hail the transport.”
“Channel open Captain,” the ensign at the tactical console said.
=^=Captain cargo transfer is complete. We are getting ready to resume course for Memory Alpha. Is there any last minute information that we should know of?=^=
Capt Foley - CO
Pilar stepped onto the bridge, her mind still mulling over the contents cargo. Nothing spectacular, she thought to herself, as she approached the Captain. It was strange, considering the trouble the Corvallen had faced. There had to be something more to this situation.
With the crew back and the shields raised, the Corvallen captain appeared again. “Not that I can think of. We’ve shared everything we know. We still don’t know how they were tracking us, but hopefully they will pose less of a problem to you than to us.” It was a reasonable assumption given the freighter’s lesser defence systems.
~Mischief Maker
OOC: Just bringing this forward. ~Linds
The Corvallen captain’s words echoed in Pilar’s mind. How were they being tracked. It couldn’t be the cargo. There had to be another reason for the attacks. But what?
=^=Understood Captain, we will take it from here. Are you going to be able to make it to your next port? Or would you like us to request some additional assistance to escort you there?=^=
Capt Foley - CO
=/\=We’re gong to make repairs and that should get us safely somewhere to deal with the things that require more work than we can do ourselves, but without the attacks, we should be okay,=/\= the captain said. =/\=Thank you again for your assistance. It’s important that these artifacts make it to Memory Alpha. It’s good to know they are in safe hands.=/\=
The Corvallen captain ended the call.
~Mischief Maker
Aaron hoped the Captain was right, and that they’d be able to get through with minimal interference.
“Alright, tactical, keep an eye on the long range sensors. I want to know as soon as possible if anything is heading our way. Helm, set course for Memory Alpha, Warp 7. Engage.”
Capt Foley - CO
“Aye, Captain.” With their new heading, the ship jumped to warp.
~Mischief Maker
After the call ended Pilar said, “Captain,” stepping forward, “there was nothing remarkable about the cargo. But I can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to this than meets the eye. I am at a loss. Not sure what our next move should be.”
Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)Aaron nodded as he thought about it for a moment. “And scans of the cargo and containers came up negative for any sort of tracking device?”
Capt Foley - CO
Pilar furrowed her brows, contemplating the situation. “No, sir. We ran thorough scans, and there was no trace of any tracking devices or anything out of the ordinary. It’s unsettling. However I suggest we keep digging. Check the manifests again, review the crew’s backgrounds—anything that might give us a clue.”
Commander Halcyone
(Executive Officer)
Aaron nodded as he listened. “There has to be a clue somewhere. Keep an eye on it, and feel free to loop in any of the senior staff for a second opinion. And let’s do a thorough scan of the crates and artifacts again. Just to double check that there isn’t some exotic radiation that it’s giving off that we can be tracked with.
“And in the meantime, I’m keeping the ship on yellow alert till we arrive at Memory Alpha. Something just doesn’t feel right.”
Capt Foley - CO
