Tor made his way down to the Counselor’s office to do his mandatory check in. If he was being honest, this was probably his favorite part of checking in. He enjoyed the questions that Counselors always asked, as they made him think about things in a different way. The portly (but deceptively strong) Bolian Engineer stepped up to the door and pressed the chime with one hand while the other held a plate with a plastic cover.Tor, CE
“Enter!” sounded from the door panel, and doors swished open. The room was spacious, mostly occupied by a blue L-shaped sofa, which together with the seafoam carpeting and lighter blue walls were designed to give the room a calming ambiance. Above the sofa hung a painting of a pair of humans dancing on a beach - a man in a tuxedo, and a barefoot woman in a red evening gown - while a butler held an umbrella over them and a maid clutched her hat against an unseen wind. On an end table sat a white vase, with red flowers matching the red of the dress in the painting. A faint aroma of vanilla and cardamom drifted through the room.
Just rising from the sofa was a dark-haired human woman in standard Starfleet blue-pauldroned uniform, her hair pulled back into a bun afixed by two wooden skewers. She smiled brightly as she placed a PADD upon a low table before the sofa and crossed the room. “Ah! Lieutenant Tor, a pleasure.” She extended her hand to the Bolian. “I’m Lieutenant Commander Lofton, but in sessions please feel free to call me Vanessa.” She gestured toward the sofa. “Please, have a seat. I was about to get a cup of hot chocolate - would you like anything?”

I hope you like them.” As the cover came off, the vanilla and cardamom was briefly accented by citrus and a slightly herbal scent. “Lemon-Poppyseed, and Blood Orange and Vulcan Sage. I think your hot chocolate would go well with each, but the orange is where I would start.” He set the tray down and took a seat. “So if I may ask, how long have you been on the Challenger?”

OOC: My sincerest apologies, I have been quite sick.

Vanessa breathed deeply and closed her eyes, the scents mixing in a way that sent tingles down her scalp. “Oh, that smells heavenly,” she replied with a bright smile. She took the suggested blood orange muffin and laid it on the table before approaching the replicator, shortly returning with two steaming mugs.
“I’ve just returned,” she responded to his question, extending one of the mugs to the engineer. “It’s my second tour aboard; I actually just returned from a rotation doing post-combat evaluations. I much prefer working with cadets,” she added with a grin.
She took a bite of the muffin, loving the interplay of the sweetness and tartness the blood orange brought to the dish. “Oh, this is goood,” she sighed, before sipping the mug of cocoa. “So what brings you to Challenger? Was this an assignment, or a request?”

Discord: tkdnate“A bit of both?” Tor replied with a smile. “I was due to rotate to a new duty station, but I wanted to keep teaching. I have really enjoyed my time at the Academy, but I missed working on a star ship. There is nothing like it.” and he sighed a contented smile. “I mean even right now… I can feel that subtle vibration in the ship that tells me impulse engines are on stand-by and the core is starting to accelerate the draw from the dilithium chamber to compensate for the impending power draw. Standing in fornt of a classroom is great. Helping cadets learn their way around a power relay safely and what to do when the computer core trips because you forgot to reset the maintenance cycle schedule is a very fulfilling. But here? Here I get to do all of that and do actual engineering.”
