We were tasked with transporting the bulk of the team’s finds to Memory Alpha for preservation and safe keeping so the researchers can continue to work with the pieces long after the dig is done. What the Breen want with a bunch of artifacts I’ll never know. It does seem unnecessary for what amounts of bits of pottery and books.||

There were still to many open questions, but they at least had a clue. Aaron looked over at Pilar. “Let’s see what we can find out about that planet while we wait for the transport team to check in.”

Pilar had questions. The mention of Sacramaris piqued her interest. As Kutan finished speaking, Pilar nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the information.

When the Captain suggested they research more about Sacramaris while waiting for the transport team, Pilar agreed. She accessed the ship’s database, searching for any available data on the planet. As they awaited the response from the away team, Pilar had a feeling this was more than just a routine cargo transport mission.

Her query brought up an announcement that a small group of Federation scientists received special permission to do an archaeological dig on the edge of Breen space (D7 on the Star Chart) after stumbling upon clues that led them to believe they might find something amazing there. After checking several planets in the sector, they came across one that matched the description in an artifact and deep planetary scans showed evidence of an ancient civilization. They began the fascinating work of uncovering everything about this civilization.

The team of 30 scientists of different archaeological and anthropological subfields were still there working.

An academic paper in the community referenced Sacramaris in terms of a rumour of an advanced civilization that once existed. It was said that they had technology well above anything anyone around had had at the time, and that their wealth was something they boasted of.

Based on the rumours and initial findings from the planetary scans it was estimated that the civilization existed roughly 1200 years ago.
