“Do you know the story of Sacramaris?”
“No, I don’t think I do?”
“It’s a tale older than the stars, where greed begets strife, and strife begets violence. You know how these things go…”
“They never turn out well, that’s for sure.”
“But that’s greed for you. Its gleam is blinding.”

The Challenger was halfway between Stameris and Bolarus, and heading to Bolarus. They were travelling at Warp 5 when an alert at the comm station made itself known. “Incoming hail from a Corvallen freighter, about half a light year away and on an intercept course,” Ensign Dabets called out.

“On screen,” Aaron said looking up from the PADD he had been reading. Things had been pretty quiet, and he figured now was a good chance to give some of the other officers some downtime and take a shift on the bridge.

Tugging at his uniform he set the PADD down and sat up a bit straighter in the center seat.

OOC: Let’s go!

Dar was at his station when he heard the hail and raised an eyebrow. “Interesting” he said to himself. He waited to hear the message.

Zunara stood behind his console with his arms behind his back, eager to hear the mysterious message.

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

On the screen appeared the crackled grey-brown face of a Corvallen. The woman had a medium voice and though the Corvallen’s were often considered mercenaries, this one seemed rather panicked. ||Starfleet vessel, thank you for answering! We need your help! We must rendezvous so we can transfer important Federation cargo to you. We’ve been under attack on and off for several days. We cannot take any more damage and we cannot risk losing our priceless cargo. Say you will help.||

~Mischief Maker

=^=Of course, we are on our way Captain.=^= With a quick tap Aaron muted the conversation.

A look of relief swept over the Corvallen captain. While their people had a much deserved reputation, she had no idea if the statfleet ship would give them the benefit of the doubt.

“Red alert. Helm, increase speed to Warp 9. Lt Zunara, work with Lt Lis to prepare a team to handle the transfer. Access is to be limited to necessary personnel until we find out what is going on.” Aaron hated flying into a situation practically blind, but this is what they had been training for. Not to mention they had a duty to render aid.

As the lights dimmed as the ship transitioned to red alert, Aaron sat up a bit straighter in his seat. Initial orders given, he unmuted the channel. =^=What can you tell us about the vessels that have been attacking you? And how many have there been?=^=

Capt Foley - CO

The captain seemed to take a moment to gather herself. ||It’s been different ships, one at a time, but all Orion. There was a Wanderer-class ship, and a D’Vaar type, as well as an interceptor. We can hold our own against them for a bit, but it’s been easier for us to just evade them. We have some tricks to help them lose our trail. But they keep finding us. They must all be working together. They never hail, just attack.||

~Mischief Maker

“Aye Captain, Lieutenant Lis, would you care to join me in the Security Office,” he gestured to the turbolift on the other side of the Bridge.”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

“Dar wondered what the cargo could be to risk that kind of attacking, but he had learned that hoodlums from Earth back in the 20th and 21st centuries would try to carjack whatever they could, even if they didn’t know what was inside. “Idiots.” He said out loud about his own comment. Then realizing what he said he quickly tried to remedy the situation. “I meant the criminals trying to do this, not the cargo ship. Sorry.”
