The next stop on his tour, Main Engineering. It was just a quick trip in the turbolift to Main Engineering from the science labs. Walking in, he wondered what Ang had done with the place since being handed the reins.

Aaron would find a slight difference in the Engineering Department. For one, everyone was in uniform and performing their duties. This would be surprising because third shift, prior to Ang taking over as Chief, was extremely lax in her crew’s dress code and behavior. Most had hoped that would spread to all the shifts. Seeing it didn’t would probably be the largest surprise.

The only other would be the Chief’s office....

.... Ang wasn’t in there.

If the Captain chose to just look around, he would find her half a body deep in a conduit reaching back for a tool that another Lieutenant was handing her. A laugh echoing out behind her. “How is it these lines end up with the kind of gunk in them, that they do? One would think there were Tribbles running around and roosting in here.”

NE Lieutenant Johnerston would snap to attention and pop a salute to the Captain as he appeared, but not give him away to the Chief.

“I do have a number for a good exterminator if you think we need one,” Aaron said as he walked up beside Ang and Johnerston. He nodded at the Lieutenant as he looked down at where the Chief was laying.

There was a bang and curse line in Klingon as the Captain spoke. Johnerston grinned, nodded to the Captain and walked away leaving his DH to her fate.

Ang slid out a moment later. Her hair had come out of its French braid in place and had wisped around her face like she had been in a heated battle. “Captain!? I didn’t know you were out here.” She growled under her breath and moved to stand up. She tugged the front of her tunic down and blew an errant strand of hair from her face. It did nothing to fix her appearance. A frown deepened slightly as she realized Johnerston had abandoned her. “I hope he left when you got here, and I wasn’t alone under here when you arrived.” She didn’t tolerate insubordination well. But she couldn’t guess if the Lieutenant had left of his own accord, or been ‘shooed’ off by the Captain, so she remained silent on that score.

“What can I do for you, Sir?” She finally asked once her brain registered he was in Engineering.

“He left shortly after I arrived,” Aaron said with a small grin. “I can appreciate wanting to get your hands dirty every now and then, but I’m hoping that you aren’t so short staffed that you are forced to be doing repairs all the time now.”
