Pilar eyes widened as she put both hands over her mouth to hold in her delighted gasp. “My goodness, It is the cutest creature I have ever seen! My children would love him! An Earth creature I presume?” She asked as she reached her hand out to pet him, but she hesitated, looked at James then asked, “May I pet him?”Halcyone, Counselor

Pilar cupped her hands as she carefully scooped Spike into them. She noticed how his quills laid flat along his back and sides and was very cautious of them. She didn’t want to upset the little creature and potentially end up with some of its quills puncturing her hands. Therefore her posture was still and her arms were stiff as she sat here holding Spike. “I see why you are called Spike” she said to the hedgehog as she studied his cute little face, then she looked at James and presented a big smile, “How long have you had him?”

“Only five earth months “ James touched his belly, spike purred and relaxed more in her hands.
“He is still young, he seems to like you.” Pilar could feel him nestle in and fall asleep. Cadet black motioned her to put him on the bar. “ He sleep in daytime , you can be holding him along time. Ma’am with permission I’d like to replicate a bed for him?”Cadet James black engineering
“Oh? How can you tell he likes me?” She inquired as she gently placed Spike on the bar and patted his tummy.
“Of course you can replicate a bed for him. I imagine he would not need a very big one. Surely no bigger than my hand. Anyway you don’t need my permission to take care of your . As long as it’s within reasonable limits you should be able to obtain what you need for him. Is his species rare?”

“Thanks ma’am, understood no they’re common. I found him on safari one weekend, he was next to his mom she lay dead from a hyena attack.” He showed her her on his padd images of African wildlife.

As she admired James picture, she nodded approvingly and said, “You are a talented artist Mr. Black. I hope you will consider doing a commission. I would like to send my oldest daughter a present soon and I think she would enjoy one of your paintings. Your home, Africa, is very beautiful and reminds me of a planet in which my roots are tied to, because it seems to be a paradise of sorts.”
Then she studied the pictures of the animals. There was a look of curiosity as she scrolled through the pictures but she was particularly interested in the giraffe and inquired about it. “The creature with the long neck and brown/white pattern on its coat, and long eyelashes. “ Yes I will paint a picture for her, may I ask how old is she? Mother Africa is indeed breathtaking, the animal you speak of is a twiga It is a leaf eater, it will strip a tree in no time. Or most call it a giraffe, it can run fast and it’s kick can be deadly. It can be relaxing to paint it is easy to free the mind to canvass, I thank you ma’am for the compliment. “ James smiled as spike moved his feet and purred, he picked off one quill and gave it to Pilar . “For you he has no nerve ending so spike didn’t even feel it.”
