An expanse of windows set the backdrop for Captain Francine Alshoi’s office. Workbees moved about handling tasks, ships came and went from their berths and overall there was a rhythm to life here on Jupiter Station that was rather lovely. Or at least she always thought so. Notification that the Challenger had arrived brought a smile to her face and her willingness to meet them wherever was easiest for them was genuine. In fact, the news she had to share with them made her actually rather excited. It wasn’t everyday she got to interact with cadets and while some officers found the task irritating, she was a teacher at heart and loved helping shape future officers and crew.

Waiting for her guests to arrive, she moved to the replicator to grab a cup of jestral tea.

It wasn’t long before Aaron had made his way off of the Challenger and towards Operations on Jupiter Station. A quick stop to change into a fresh uniform, and he was on his way.

Stopping outside of Captain Alshoi’s office, Aaron took one last deep breath before he hit the door chime.

Capt Foley - CO

Alshoi raised her brows and shook her head. “It’s open,” she said. Sometimes you tried to make it easy for people but they still insisted on politeness. Ah well.

The dark haired woman rose from her desk and smiled. “Captain Foley,” she greeted with a bow of her head. “Congratulations. I understand the promotion is still fairly new.”

Aaron stepped in as Capt Alshoi stood up from her desk. “Thank you Captain. It’s only been a couple of days, so I’m still getting used to it. Wasn’t exactly expecting it, so it was a pleasant surprise. But the crew has been very receptive, so that has definitely helped me settle in, and thankfully no one has been talking about the position being cursed. Especially with how many CO’s we’ve gone through recently,” he said with a bit of a laugh.

Francine grinned. “Best not said, I think. I’m not superstitious, but you know how some people can be.”

Aaron just nodded.

“But I’m sure that’s not what you wanted to talk to me about.”

She gestured to the generous seating with the large curved sofa. “Come have a seat. Command has given me instructions for both of us.”

Settling into one side, Alshoi was turned to face Foley. “So one of the benefits of Jupiter Station is our extensive advanced science labs. The scientists on my staff are conducting some cutting edge experiments in a variety of areas. While your ship is getting the repairs you need, Command thought it would be beneficial for your cadets to not be just sitting around waiting and instead learning. How do you feel about the idea of letting them work with the staff here and learn from some of the best? And it isn’t just science, the whole station can be open to your crew as you see fit.”

Sitting down on the other side Aaron let himself relax slightly as he thought over what Alshoi said. “I believe this is where I’m supposed to debate you on who has the best crew,” Aaron said with a small grin. “While I’m proud of the Challenger and her crew, I have to admit she is not the newest ship in the fleet. It would be good for the cadets, and the rest of the crew, to get some time seeing some of the latest and greatest. And… a chance to learn from some of the up and coming experts in their fields. You know, the whole different perspective thing.”

Aaron was definitely intrigued by the idea himself. He was still a scientist at heart and was curious what sort of experiments they were conducting here at the station.
