The shuttle had rocked, rolled, rolled, and beat its passengers black and blue, but they all cheered anyway when it landed in the USS Challenger’s shuttle bay.

Out of all the folks on board, it was the 60-year-old Bajoran woman with the wooden leg who was the first to jump up and help others with their luggage until it was just her standing there alone, wrapped in a great big orange knit scarf, carrying a black doctor’s bag.

She had recieved her comm badge from Starfleet just before the trip, and she pinned it to her green paisley top and pressed it with gusto.

Awaiting a response, she made a deal with one crewman to deliver the crate with her belongings to her quarters the following day, and sent messages to her network to tell them she had arrived in one piece, all the while absent-mindedly fiddling with the d’ja pagh dangling from her right ear.

Today, she wore a gold earring with a red stone and the Rahm family crest– hopefully for good luck. She enjoyed working with the young–always unafraid to tell her what they thought. She hoped the cadets and outgoing ensigns on the Challenger would be the same way.
