OOC: Hi Sean, nice couple of first posts indeed, a couple of tips for you here. First, is to post in Past Tense rather than present tense, I see you fixed that mostly in your second post so well done. It also pays to read through your post again to catch spelling errors, sometimes a spell checker in your browser helps. All around, a good solid first few posts and I’m liking what I see, keep up the good work!

Nijix looked up from her work, then looked at the clock display nearest her. He was barely on time as the clock blinked 15:01. Her expression gave no indication of what she was thinking, her figure settled back into her chair and looked the young man over. Inward, a three dimensional model was being created in her memory before it was locked in her mental archives.

She gestured for the cadet to take the seat in front of her.

After he took it, she spoke, “I’ll be asking you a series of questions. Mostly to gage what type of individual you are so please answer honestly.”

She pulled up his PADD while she continued, “Cadet, you placed on your application you wanted to join the Security Department. What was your motivation? It’s not the easiest job. There’s a high risk of injury and possible death causing most to avoid such a dangerous occupation.”

“Sir. My motivation to be part of the Security Department is to save the lives of those who can serve Starfleet. I am… Well I am an adapt fighter ma’am. I’ve… never fired a Phaser. I’ve held one, but never fired. Back home I’ve been known to be the protector of me family. I can see Starfleet being such a family. And I am prepared to risk it all to save the lives of the many people who take care of Starfleet. Sir.”

Cadet Eoin O’Rourke

“I need all my officers confident in handling their phasers so we’re going to change that immediately,” Nijix stated, though her voice held it’s emotionless tone.

She picked up his profile PADD, checking something on it before she moved it out of the Cadet’s line of sight. It set on a hidden table pulled out from underneath the drawers on her desk side. Suitable for devices, papers, or other small objects she needed to keep within reach. She had it specially installed on request.

“Now, you say you’re willing to risk it all to save the lives of others. That’s easy to say now when you’re not put in the situation,” Nijix pointed out while she continued.

“Things change when they become dangerous and survival instinct kicks in. I aim to test and find your limit so be prepared for the academy to be a walk in the park,” She honestly told him then moved onto her next question.

“Reasons for joining Starfleet? There’s many ways to serve and protect people, other than starfleet.”
