Some sort of iridescent black goo had seeped all over Morton’s boot and within seconds he found himself in a very strange situation: He was only half there. The upper half, to be exact. And one arm. He was stuck in place, unable to move, with only one arm free. Where the lower half of his body (and the bottle) went was a mystery, but the ensign’s emotions were not: the fear was etched deeply in his eyes.

“Okay everyone, s-s-stay… c-c-calm…”

~Mischief Maker

After a second or two of shock, Taya’s training kicked in. She tapped her comm badge.

=^=Cadet Lenwa to bridge. We have a possible hazardous substance situation in cargo bay 12. We need hazmat and a medical team forthwith.=^=

“All right, everyone, clear the bay right now! This is an emergecy situation.” Taya felt odd giving orders, but there was no time for rank protocol now.

Cadet Taya Lenwa - Security

Cadet Baptiste was knocked back hard causing him to land unceremoniously on his Coccyx. “C’est quoi ça” he cried in French. Just great, break my toe, and now I bruise my tailbone he thought. His emergency room training quickly kicked in and he began to look around to assess the situation. He saw Cadet Dawes laying on the deck across from him. He heard the chirp of a comm badge and that was when he realized he had a loud ringing in his right ear, and a wave of nausea and dizziness hit him. Just great what a time for my Ménière’s to kick in.

The first thing P’Mala Dawes felt was the cool floor against her cheek–then a blurry light–then a dull chaotic roar of shouts and voices and movement–and a bright pain in her head. The room swam around her as it all came into focus.

She sat up, and touched the back of her head, which sent a hot shock of pain down her back.

The deck was clearing–she noticed Cadet Baptiste on the floor, and heard Lenwe’s voice calling to the bridge.

She didn’t know what to think of Engisn Morton–her brain blocked everything out and she focused on his terrified face.

“Ensign Morton, status report!” she said, a harsh little bark to her voice. “Are you alright?

-Cadet P’Mala Dawes

OOC: I’ve started a Bridge thread and cross-posted the comm there. I note all my sim posts with ‘Main Sim’, so you’ll always know what threads are a part of the action.
IC:
Morton let out a bitter chuckle. “Sure, just fine.” He scrunched up his nose as a smell began to permeate the space. “Ewww, is that strawberries? Smells rotten.”

Rotten, Dawes thought. She wished her old friend, a Pakled named Grustle, were here–he was an expert on all things rancid.

“What about your… other half,” she asked Morton.

“I can’t move my lower body. It’s like it’s not there. Everyone keep some distance. Find a tricorder and get readings. Something. Anything.” He could give orders, sort of, until someone else showed up but right now he didn’t know how exactly to tell a bunch of cadets that he had no clue what to do.

~Mischief Maker

Get a hold of yourself thought Cadet Baptiste. He began doing one of the mental exercises he was trained in during therapy for his Ménière’s disease he noticed Cadet Dawes sit up and reach for her head. Seeing she seemed to be okay he turned his attention to Ensign Morton Que se passe-t-il au diable ? he thought in French.
Hearing Cadet Dawes snap in a harsh bark a question to Ensign Morton, and knowing that someone; he believed it was Cadet Lenwa report the emergency to the bridge, he spotted a young NE Cadet Brin Hadley, starting to evacuate “You,” he said in a firm and commanding voice “go and fetch the emergency medical kits and bring them to me A.S.A.P.!” Must work through the nausea and dizziness he thought ** we have a real world emergency going on.**

-Cadet Johnathan Baptiste, medical

“Keep calm, Ensign,” P’Mala said. “Help is coming.”

P’Mala took to her feet and walked to where Cadet Baptiste was. NE Hadley had returned with the medical kits.

“Can I see your tricorder?” P’Mala asked.

NE Hadley obliged, and P’Mala cautiously aimed it at Morton–the tricorder beeped in her hand.

“Your vitals… they look alright, though there are some strange energy signatures coming from the area,” she said. “Ensign, what happens when I ask you to try moving a toe or kicking your feet?”

-Cadet P’Mala Dawes

Cadet Baptiste stood up and took the medical kits out of NE Hadley’s hands “I would recommend Cadet Lenwa that you have NE Hadley here show you that crate where he got the bottle from and secure it, and for God’s sake DO NOT touch any of those bottles; we have enough of a disaster as it is.”. He then turned and assessed Ensign Morton Où diable commençons-nous même he thought in French, to Ensign Mortin he said in a joking tone “Well sir, I most definitely never played this version of Truth or Dare, You picked one hell of a dare.” Then turning to Cadet Dawes “I have a Terakine hypo if you want one.”

-Cadet Johnathan Baptiste, medical

OOC: Just remember, you can’t Auto another persons character, including the NE’s they create. The GM is able to say what happens however. In the same vein, It’s up to the GM to tell us how Morton’s vitals are, they may not look alright. I know you are simply trying to move the story along, but we let the GM tell us the consequences of our actions in a Main Sim.

IC: The Badge on Cadet Lenwa’s chest came to life, the voice of the CO coming through.

=/\= Cadet Lenwa this is Captain Rhodes, acknowledged, we will send requested aid immediately. =/\=

There was a pause for a moment, likely the CO giving orders that couldn’t be heard.

=/\= Cadet, make your report, what is the situation we are dealing with? =/\=

Captain Rhodes, CO

OOC: When you reply to this post directly, try cross posting your answer to the Main Sim - Bridge thread as well like I have done here. You can edit the post a bit too to fit the area you are in, as I have done.

“I… nothing. I can’t feel or move anything,” Albert said quietly, all jokes having flown out the proverbial airlock

It was hard to get clear readings since whatever the goo was had done something to space/time (noted by the presence of tachyons) but only in an isolated area around the poor ensign. Morton’s bio readings were currently stable though his heart rate was understandably high, and it was hard to say exactly what issues the lower half of his body was having. He was starting to look a little faint as well.

The other notable issue that they could detect was the growing amount of tetryon radiation that undoubtedly had touched anyone within some proximity to the original blast. They would all need to be treated, but for Morton who was stuck within the… whatever it was, it was likely that much more dangerous given that tetryons could cause cellular disruption.

~Mischief Maker

Cadet Baptiste glanced at the tricorder readings from the tricorder Cadet Dawes was using as he waited the response to his offer of a hypospray injection. Oh mon Dieu, le rayonnement tetryon he thought in French. He immediately hit his comm badge =^= Capitaine nous avons une exposition de tetryon radiation ici, Informez la baie malade que nous allons avoir besoin de Chronexaline et Hyronalin à portée de main. =^= he said rapidly in French, then realizing he spoke in French quickly corrected himself =^= I apologize Captain, we have an exposure of tetryon radiation here, inform sick bay we are going to need Chronexaline and Hyronalin on hand. =^=
He then quickly started to search the emergency med kit for the necessary drug hyposprays to begin treating the crew in the cargo bay for radiation exposure, the pain hypospray for Cadet Dawes completely forgotten.

Short version, Taya. Give him the short version. Just enough to let the command staff know what happened. “Sir, we’re in the cargo bay getting equipment for our departments and a bottle from one of the crates exploded, leaving Ensign Morton partially invisible.” She hoped that was enough.

Cadet Taya Lenwa - Security

A sharp bolt of pain wracked P’Mala’s head. She gripped the tricorder hard, tried to steady herself. Baptiste and Lenwa were taking control of the situation. Her head… she sat down on the cool floor.

Tachyons means space/time, right, she thought. To be honest, space physics was not one of her strong suits–she’d avoided that whole line of science classes for the most part.

She turned her attention to NC Brin Hadley.

“Brin. Are you okay? Do you remember anything about where you got that bottle? A shipment number so we can look it up in the cargo manifest?”

-Cadet P’Mala Dawes

Cadet Baptiste caught Cadet Dawes sitting back down on the deck out of the corner of his eyes, concerned he looked up and asked “Are you okay? Perhaps I should give you the Terakine hypo?” Then he was hit with another wave of nausea and dizziness. Staggering a little he then looked to Cadet Lenwa, with a pale face and shaky voice he again he reiterated his previous statement “Cadet Lenwa may I recommend that you have NE Hadley here show you that crate where he got the bottle from and secure it, and please remember not to touch the bottles in said crate, we have a big enough issue as it is.” Then he stumbled a little towards Cadet Dawes to hand her the Terakine hypo.

-Cadet Johnathan Baptiste, medical

P’Mala Dawes took the hypospray from Baptiste and injected it into her arm.

“I needed that,” she murmered. “Thanks.”

Taya considered Baptiste’s suggestion. “Since we’re dealing with tachyons, and since I wasn’t in the blast radius when the bottle exploded, I think I should wait until the science people get here.” She had no desire to become nauseated or invisible.

Cadet Taya Lenwa - Security

“Aah,” she said–with the immediate pain relief of the hypospray, P’Mala felt the nausea and foggiest seep into her head.

“I believe I’m experiencing a concussion,” she admitted. “Taya, if you’re not contaminated, it’s best you stay that way.”

Despite her injury,, P’Mala wanted to look up the owner of the crate and its contents in the manifest before Science arrived. Not knowing how long Morton would remain stable–as a doctor, the not knowing was what made her most uncomfortable.

-Cadet P’Mala Dawes

Cadet Baptiste nodded at Cadet Lenwa in acknowledgement of what she said “Well at least allow me to give you a hypospray of Chronexaline and Hyronalin, actually all four of you, to help minimize the affects of the tetryon radiation, as the longer we stay here the greater the spread and exposure to it. Ensign Morton I will toss you the hypo and you just need to inject it where you can, you definitely need the medication to help with the reduction of cellular disruption, sir.” He then tossed the hypo to the Ensign. In a low murmur he said to Cadet Dawes “I am not sure how much help it will have for him, 50/50 best guess, God only knows how much tetryon radiation he has been exposed to and who knows what else, but I am almost positive it will not hurt him and should buy us some time to help him.” Then turning about and out loud asked “So do you want me to give you those hypos or do you just want to evacuate the Cargo Bay like everyone else? I can stay behind until the Hazmat and medical teams arrive and monitor Ensign Morton.” Cadet Baptiste felt more in control, despite the dizziness and nausea, after all this was one of his specialties, emergency medicine, if only he could have some Nina Simone or Norma Tanega playing in the background, like he did when performing surgery.
