The medical bay looked like pretty much all of the ones Kell had visited or spent time in getting patched up, the same machines going beep, the same collection of used coffee mugs that no-one seemed capable of tidying away, even on-board a starship where most of the process was automated, the same people in blue shirts wandering around trying to look busy.

“Pretty standard.” He thought to himself as he stepped inside, balancing his kitbag on one shoulder, whilst in his other hand he held a tray with a selection of hot beverages. His review of maintenance logs on the trip over had shown that not only was the sickbay replicator on the fritz, but that prior to breaking down the machine had had the highest order rate on the whole ship.

“Hello?” He called out to the blue shirted types, “Would anyone trade a coffee for a boarding physical exam?”

After having Cadet Dawes help tape his toes and putting his footwear back on; and with a sigh of relief that Captain Rhodes did not seem to upset, though he was sure he was quite amused at the story of how he injured his foot, he stood and straightened his uniform, picking up the snow globe gift his sister had given him. He turned and was about to find a place to wait for Dr. Frankenstein to return when he nearly collided with a six-foot living tree wearing the rank of Lieutenant, J.G. “Hello, would anyone trade a coffee for a boarding physical exam?” he called out. Cadet Baptiste had just a momentary brain fart before his training kicked in, “Well I am not a coffee drinker, I prefer a fruit juice mixture I devised for my “wake up and stay alert’ drink, the caffeine makes me jittery; not a good thing for a trauma surgeon.” he smiled and replied, “While I just had my boarding physical exam, and I am waiting for Dr. Frankenstein to return so I may report for duty properly, it would be my pleasure to give you your boarding physical exam. As they say first in line, first to take the patient.” Again he smiled and waited to see how the Lieutenant would react to him.
