Cadet Reese stepped off the teleporter pad with his bag over his shoulder and a gleam in his eye. As an academic, he had enjoyed his time at the academy. But now his training was moving from academia to practical. And with only a slight twinge of apprehension, Kyle exited the transporter room and headed down the corridor.
His first stop was to drop off his bag in his newly assigned quarters before heading to his appointment with the Chief Medical Officer. It was smaller than he thought it would be, but more than enough for his needs; at least for now. A quick glance as his chronometer told him he did not have time to linger, so he quickly made his way to turbolift four and up to deck six and main sickbay.

Entering the lobby, Kyle checked in with a lieutenant medical officer and waited for his turn with Dr. Frankenstein. He could not help but be reminded of the old Earth story with another doctor by the same name. Looking around, he wondered briefly how that Dr. Frankenstein’s lobby might look.

Kyle’s imagination snapped back to reality when someone called his name.

“Cadet Reese, Dr. Frankenstein can see you now”

Kyle stood and straightened his uniform and went in to meet the ships Chief Medical Officer.

“Actually, Nurse Liu, I’ll be handling Cadet Reese’s intake appointment, at least for now,” P’Mala Dawes said.

The half-Vulcan Cadet doctor dismissed the nurse and turned to Cadet Reese. She carried a PADD in one hand, her medical tricorder at her hip.

“If you’ll excuse me, Mr. Reese, Dr. Frankenstein is just a little busy at the moment, but if you would follow me to this room on the left–”

She gestured to an open door–the room contained a biobed with a stool and one cabinetted sink, like a GP’s office.

“–once you sit down, we’ll take your vitals and get started.”
