crawling into the tube, Kalos called out to tender: “close the hatch behind you so we can equalize the pressure and take these bulky suits off.”
equalizing the pressure between their point of entry and subspace control, Kalos undid the latch on his helmet. Stunned, Kalos quickly redid the latch on his helmet. “Leave it on for now, life support must be offline because the air is very cold. The heat from the computer should be enough to keep us warm in the control room but we wont have more than a half hour of air, so its best we don’t waste it.”
Pushing off of the deck Kalos floated up to the top of the tube shaft and continued on to the control room.

Tender pulled the hatch closed and punched the pressure button and didn’t move to remove his helmet. “No offence cadet, but I wasn’t going to pull it off anyway. The area is way too unstable.”

“None taken, I am used to working in a more controlled environment, so I will often take greater risks. If you feel like I am taking any more unnecessary risks, tell me, I wont be offended.”

He looked around and then nodded and released his mag boots. “The EPS valve should be half way up this shaft. If we close this one, and open the other one a little further up, it should get enough power back to the core that we can at least get some emergency fields erected.”

“Sounds like a plan. I’ll get the upper one and meet you in the core.” Kalos said before heading up the ladder and opening the eps valve.

Kalos heard the forcefields snap into place as soon as he opened the valve. scanning the surrounding area with his tricorder Kalos saw that temperature and pressure was going up and approaching normal. Climbing the rest of the way up the tube Kalos reached the Subspace control room. Opening the hatch he could see that they still didn’t have full power because the red emergency lighting was lit and none of the console displays were lit. once Tender had made it through the hatch Kalos tapped his commbadge.

Tender slid in behind him and plugged in his PaDD and started the diagnosis. “We can probably get the emergency fields set up in short order. That would at least let us get people back in here to start the serious repairs and then we can get home for better repairs.”

=^= Cadet, concentrate on making sure the computer core is stable and secure. Priority is to get shields up and running, just in case those asteroids try to come after us again.=^=

Monitoring the situation from his station in sickbay, Alex called up the diagnostic feeds built in to the bulky suits. He evaluated the data, observing the elevated BP and heart rate expected in such a stressful situation.

=^= Tender, Onovren, it’s Doctor McCall here. It looks like you’re burning through your O2 reserves a little quickly. I need you to give me some nice, deep, even breaths. Slow and steady guys. =^=

NE Tender looked at Onovren with a confused look on his face then tapped his badge. =/\= Tender to McCall. What?=/\= He shook his head and then back to Onovren, “Pop open that valve and we can be on our way.”

Daphne moved over next to McCall and looked at the readings too. =/\=McCall is right. For some reason, your vital signs are slightly wonky. It might be a mechanical error with the suits and not you. Are you guys almost done in there?=/\=

Daphne looked at McCall and patted the man on the shoulder. “Good catch. Security and engineering always want to run headfirst into things. They tend to come headfirst into sickbay on a stretcher half the time too. “

opening the valve, Kalos responded to sickbay, =/\=Onovren here, we will try and work fast, but if we get emergency forcefields up in this section we should be able to re pressurize this area. but we will be sure to keep an eye on our O2 levels.=/\= Turning to Tender Kalos continued, “lets get started on those shields before we run out of air.”

Tender rolled his eyes at the doctors. “They don’t know what they are talking about, buy yeah. Power should be restored now.” He floated over to the terminal and started typing before looking up. “Brace yourself cadet,” he said before entering the final command on the terminal.

Bracing himself against the terminal, Kalos felt the gravity come on as the lighting was restored

With that power was restored, along with gravity, and the ensign came crashing down on one of the platforms. “There. Let the bridge know we can start repairs and in about 20 minutes our section will be good to go.”

“Thanks for the tip.” Kalos said offering a hand to the ensign.
=/\=Onovren to bridge, Ensign Tender has restored power and gravity in the core and we are beginning our work. We can have this done in an hour.=/\=
Kalos began by running a diagnostic of the computer core its self and its supporting systems. “I knew it, just what I had predicted, the core its self is fine, but the subspace field that enables FTL processing speeds has collapsed because the subspace field generator is down.”

Tender pulled himself up with aide of Onovern. “Yeah just get it back up and running so we can be done with this. Heh.” He chuckled a little. “I don’t think we will need to dry dock but this isn’t exactly how I wanted to spend the next couple of weeks.”
