Vanessa nodded along as Kalos answered, then smiled at the end. “That’s something I think Lieutenant Stadi will definitely help with. He loves to get his hands dirty.” She sipped her cocoa again, using the brief pause to run through more thoughts.

“Okay, on the other end of the spectrum - what is something you think your experience will bring to the fleet?”

These questions were the very typical “strengths and weaknesses” questions people were used to, but Vanessa had found, through experience, that couching them in these terms usually provided better answers, and often far more insight into her patients than the standard, very tired, phrasing.

Lofton, CNS

OOC: I think that we have split this thread so many times and bumped it that it is messed up and showing in three different places so I am just reposting it to eliminate confusion, hope thats okay?

“Well, thats an interesting question.” Kalos paused contemplating the question. “Other than the usual I think that my unique perspective of starship operations will able me to be more effective in engineering, however I also worry that I may be too unconventional for the other officers because of that. I guess we will see though”

OOC: Perfect! It happens sometimes. I love that you added the pause here; keep adding those elements to the dialogue, giving us more info on how Kalos is feeling during this session, some of his inner thoughts.

Vanessa shrugged and gave a small grin. “Engineering is often where the unconventional is most necessary. In my experience with engineers, they’ll find it fascinating.”

The counselor finished off her cocoa and set it aside then recrossed her legs. “You’ve had a little bit of time here already, meeting your chief and all that. Are you settling in okay? Any worries you have?”

CNS Lofton

“Yeah, everything is going well integrating into the crew has gone well. I don’t think I have any worries”

Vanessa smiled again, then glanced over at the wall chronometer. “Well, that about wraps up this one, I think. I’m always here, so feel free to schedule an appointment if you need one.”

She scooted her feet forward and set them on the floor, her hands on her knees. “Are there any questions you have for me?” she asked him.
