OOC: Editing to fit the Captain and CMO arriving via shuttle - timing might be an issue but I’ll work with the GM/Capt. on that if need be.

IC:
NE Kyos arrived at the Challenger’s Shuttle Bay within a few minutes of being sent off by Chief Rodier. NCs Jills and Pin followed a few steps behind their commanding officer, having been called up from their posts near the Bridge mere moments before. The security team paused at the door, making sure that the Bay was still intact enough to enter, and then proceeded in. Kyos had more than a touch of uncertainty in her step, but was at least knowledgeable enough to know to grab one of the medpacks left in each security waystation. She only hoped that her first meeting with the ship’s newly-minted (well, sort of) Captain and CMO would be on fairly good terms.

Rodiers badge chirped just after he arrived, =/\= Be advised the incoming shuttle has damage and may be leaking plasma, advise containment protocol to the hangar bay and extinguishers. =/\=

Ops NE

Kyos’s badge came to life as her team entered the Bay. =^= Rodier to Kyos, use caution, shuttle may be leaking contaminants. =^= Kyos hesitated once more. “Jills, grab the emergency containment suits. Pin, get the claws ready, we might need to pry them outta there.” As the two went about carrying out their orders, Kyos waited patiently, watching the shuttle slowly become larger, its figure bathed in a light blue light.

As they watched, the shuttle seemed to lurch slightly as if something had happened with their thrusters or power systems. The pilot righted it, but seconds later the shuttle visibly shut down it’s power as the running lights and thrusters cut out. Either the power system had failed, or the crew had cut power due to excessive damage.

Kyos stared for a moment at the shuttle. Surely the bridge has to be seeing this… she thought. The threesome began to don their containment suits as NC Pin set down the equipment Kyos thought might be necessary to get the officers out of that shuttle.

It took minutes for the tractor beams to bring the shuttle on board and set it down on the shuttle pad. Readings on the engineering systems showed that the shuttle had shut down all power except for the emergency battery, which meant the plasma conduits were shut down as well. There was residual radiation coming from the damaged plasma manifolds but this was slight, and nothing that Engineers didn’t deal with on a daily basis from repairing or maintaining the EPS grid around the ship.

The ship itself looked like it had been blasted with a shotgun, a big one, in several places as bits of rock had simply passed through the deflector shields and impacted the hull, there were even bits of rock half sticking out of the hull in many places were they had become stuck.

As the shuttle set down. Everything went quiet in the shuttle bay, although movement could be seen through the shuttles view screen. It looked like two people were in the shuttle.

Kyos looked away from the readings coming from the shuttle bay’s sensors, a look of mild relief on her face. “Cadets, with me. Take the jaws.” The team hurried to the ship’s entrance, which as of yet had not opened, and NC Pin positioned the machine on the floor and enabled its maglock. “Stand back!” he called, and pressed its deceivingly-simple “On” button. The threesome then watched as their handiwork attempted to free the two officers trapped inside the powerless shuttle.

The jaws quickly and efficiently locked onto the side of the shuttle door, activating the release mechanism and sliding the hatch out of the way. In the doorway already, was a woman, fair skinned, red haired and slim, wearing the Medical blues of Starfleet with the pips of a Lieutenant on her collar.

As she stepped out, a man followed her and this one wore the Red tunic of Command with Captains pips on his collar. Sharp brown eyes and athletic rather than overly muscular, he stepped out and came to a stop beside the woman, looking at the crew that had released them. His face broke into a grin after a moment of maintaining the serious look and it was obvious by the creases on his face that he wasn’t always serious.

“Thank you, gentlemen,” he said to those in front of him. “It was getting a little stuffy in there with the air conditioning turned off. Looks like you have had some trouble? I’m Captain Rhodes and this is Dr Frankenstein.”

Kyos and the two NCs brought their feet together and their backs up straight as could be for just a moment, giving the two officers before them their due respect. “NE Kyos reporting, sirs,” she replied. Kyos’s position meant that she rarely interacted with the ship’s captain directly, but it was still nice to note that he seemingly had a sense of humor.

“We’ve had some difficulties, yes. I was sent to escort you both to the Bridge.” The Ensign couldn’t help but think the new CMO might be better suited to, well, Sickbay. But it wasn’t her place to say, so she simply tapped her comm as instructed. =^= Kyos to Rodier, incoming officers are secure. On our way back. =^= She turned toward the exit with a small, suggestive “follow me” gesture.
