USS Challenger

Main Sim - Deck 9

Posted by Cadet Javal (Doctor) in Main Sim - Deck 9
Cadet Javal peered out onto the swirling light show of space. He watched the vibrant yellows, whites, reds, and blues of passing stars zipping past his viewscreen as he sipped his Plomeek tea. The ship was traveling at high warp toward the Sol system, where the Vulcan anticipated that he would be finally stepping off of the Challenger to join his new crew.

His dark brown eyes turned about to gaze upon his compact crew quarters, with the typical arrangement of what most cadets would be billeted in. The room had little embellishments, due in part to the fact that the vast majority of its sparse décor was now packed neatly into one Starfleet-issue travel bag. In addition to a small case containing candles and incense for his meditations, his set of comfortable off-duty robes and exercise gear was packaged neatly within, leaving Javal in his duty uniform even though he was technically off-duty now that his assignment on the Challenger had officially concluded.

The bag, which now rested on his bunk on his side of the two-man quarters on Deck 9, reminded him of his fellow cadets that had left only but a few days ago, off to embark on their own new postings. The tea he sipped at that moment further reminded him of the many experiences he had with the energetic young security cadet that he had gotten to share many a drink with during the course of his rather eventful evaluation onboard the Challenger. Before Jordy Kleine had left, he had informed him that he had been posted to the USS Ark Angel, a rather prestigious posting at the head of the Foremost Fleet. Such a posting was well deserved. He was a dedicated and resourceful Starfleet officer, and he will make a capable Ensign Javal thought to himself, in logical terms that constituted the closest he could get to offering a heart-felt compliment of the man.

As his mind wandered on past memories, something quite conducive to breaking one’s concentration tumbled into Javal’s consciousness at just that moment - and quite literally too. A sudden impact, producing a noise immediately deafening to the Vulcan’s ears, rocked the doctor as much as it did toss him onto the bare bulkheads of the floor below. His tea shared a similar fate to him, with the clash of porcelain against the ground being drowned out by the calamity what brought him to this deplorable state.

Javal pushed himself slowly off of the floor, careful to not stress anything in case he had suffered an injury. As he was caught unawares, he realized that he likely had not broken his tumble to the ground quite well, and he would need to check over himself to make sure all was in order. As he rose, a fairly strong sting of pain began to permeate from just above his left eyebrow, yet the Vulcan did not visibly wince at the offense. Raising his left hand, which slightly brushed aside his neatly cropped dark brown hair, he could feel the issue present itself more clearly as he pressed lightly against it.

“A contusion, perhaps…” he muttered to himself calmly. Reaching for his bag, his head turned again at the sound of the alarm klaxon coming on, signaling the ship’s own pain messages to the entire crew. Time was of the essence now. If he had not suffered any brain trauma, then he would need to get himself to Sickbay as quickly as he could to aid in the emergency medical response.

Ripping open the zipper, Javal produced his medical cadet’s kit, which included his personal medical tricorder. Powering the instrument on, he gave a quick scan of his cranium.

“Multiple superficial injuries, but no significant inter-cranial trauma. That will have to do for now.” He had a job to do, and such a collision, even if the exact nature of it was unknown to him at this point, would likely result in casualties far more severe than his own.

Raising fully to his feet, the doctor strapped the tricorder to his utility belt, while also procuring a small medical kit. As he was off-duty, his doctor’s toolkit was rather light - he could only work with the bare essentials in case he ran into wounded crew on the way to Sickbay.

His hands were ready to help where needed as his feet carried him to the exit of his quarters.

OOC: Since the impact struck decks 7, 8, and 9, what kind of dangers will Javal expect to run into on his way to the turbolift?

[Cadet Javal - Doctor thrusted back into the line of duty]

OOC: Since you’re medical you would get this

IC:
=^= Attention all Medical and Security personnel: triage protocol. Form two-person teams and evacuate all injured crew to Sickbay. Do not treat anyone on-site unless absolutely necessary. Use transporters as necessary. =^=
