COS's Office - Cadet Smith Reporting for Duty

Posted by Cadet Scott Webber (Security Officer) in COS’s Office - Cadet Smith Reporting for Duty
Webber had just gotten off of the shuttlecraft that had taken on board the Challenger and knew that he needed to check in with the Chief of Security before doing anything else, after all, he thought first impressions are everything. He thanked the pilot of the shuttlecraft and quickly viewed the ship map on his PADD before making his way to the Chief of Security’s office.

Webber estimated that he had about 15 minutes before he had to report for his first shift so he needed to hurry if he was going to make it around the ship in time. His walk turned into a controlled speed walk and he estimated that he was going to have enough time to make introductions and make it to his first shift. As he approached the Chief’s office he became nervous about the new environment and people but calmed himself by knowing that the age difference between him and the Chief was not large so it would not be hard to relate to him.

He stood in front of the office and pressed doorbell. When he heard “Come in” he walked into the office, and standing at attention Webber confidently said “Cadet Webber reporting for duty, Sir!”

OOC (Out Of Character): Fantastic first post - you have our style down pat! It seems you may have accidentally posted the same thing multiple times. Nothing to worry about, that happens sometimes; sometimes the Submit button can be a little slow, but if you give it a few seconds it’ll work - try not to press it multiple times. Otherwise, great job! I’m looking forward to RPing with you :)

IC (In Character):
There was a window in Lieutenant Junior Grade Henry Rodier’s office. Or, perhaps it was a viewscreen - he wasn’t entirely sure, and chose not to devote any thought to the possibility. After all, regardless of how it functioned, it served as a window to the outside world. He stood at that window from time to time, just looking, sometimes sipping a drink or contemplating an evaluation. That window was what he went to when he didn’t find the answer in his office or on his PADD. There wasn’t a proper word for it, and if there was, the Lieutenant didn’t care to be told about it. But it reminded him of what his life was about, why things mattered, why some things didn’t…

When Cadet Webber rung his doorbell, Henry was standing at that window, a large cup of orange juice in one hand. He turned as he said “come in,” of course - he wasn’t in the habit of intimidating new officers with vague, contemplative staring. The more significant difference that Webber would undoubtedly notice, though, was not that his new Chief was standing facing him rather than sitting at his desk or looking out the window. Rather, it was that the Lieutenant was decidedly more damp than usual. For, in his haste to turn around, the Challenger’s Chief of Security managed to spill nearly his entire glass of orange juice on himself.

Not that he commented on this fact, or even addressed it at all other than brushing off his pants slightly as they dripped all over the floor. All he did was look at the officer standing before him and say, “At ease, Cadet. Please, have a seat.” and gesture to the two dark blue felted seats in front of his desk, both still dry. “How’ve you been finding the Challenger so far?” Henry continued, making his way behind his desk.
