And that was that. Javal’s first command had concluded in a fiery conflagration against the Romulans. Like the infamous Kobayashi Maru scenario that every cadet at the Academy, including him, had to endure, Javal’s fate in this simulator ended in a similar way - with his crew in the line of fire and himself to blame for it. At least in this circumstance, there were some positives - his primary objective had still been fulfilled.

“That was a fascinating simulation, Mr. Kleine. As you humans say, it gave me much fruit for thought,” Javal said, turning over to his compatriot. He glanced over at the chronometer and noticed that he still had some time for a meal at the mess hall before returning to Sickbay for his next shift.

“Would you care to join me for a meal at the mess hall? I am sure there is much to discuss pertaining to what had just transpired in our simulation.”

‘Sure lead the way.’ Jordy said

The doors slid open to the mess hall as Javal accompanied Jordy to a nearby table.

“I will make an order from the replicator, one moment please,” Javal said.

He headed over to the replicator and ordered a warm plomeek soup with a cup of spice tea before sitting down at the table and pulling out a spoon to eat.

“I assume that after effecting your escape from the Romulan vessel, you might be experiencing a sensation of hunger as well,” he said as he began to sample his meal.

‘Yes i do, i will also order something.’ Jordy replied

Jordy wallks to the replicator and orders a plate with pasta and a cup of coffee.

Jordy grabs the tray and goes back to the table and he takes a seat.

“Good choice,” Javal replied, looking at Jordy’s pasta.

“So, I would like to hear your thoughts as to how the scenario played out. While our primary objective of protecting Ambassador Spock from the enemy was accomplished, it came at a cost. Ten crew were killed and another twenty were wounded under my command. I was aware of the risk but thought it logical to keep a Starfleet Captain safe from the hands of the enemy, as you would have given them tremendous value as an intelligence asset. Yet I still ponder if it was the ethical choice - Ambassador Spock himself would have told me that the needs of the many outweigh the few. Perhaps my actions were in dereliction of this statement.”
