Miya knelt beside the injured woman, trying to keep her expression encouraging as she started to pass the medical tricorder over the wounds. The scent of blood was strong in her nostrils and she was peripherally aware of Lt Rodier and the security cadet - she recognised him as Jordy Klein; she’d conducted his onboarding physical - approaching a body wearing a Starfleet uniform. She swallowed as she studied the tricorder’s readouts, determined to keep her voice steady as she reported its findings to Lt O’Connell.
“These are deep cuts, but nothing a dermal regenerator can’t handle. I’d recommend broad spectrum antibiotics to cover any possible contaminants being transferred from these creatures. I can prepare a hypospray now, sir, if you want?” she added.
Noting the colonist’s dazed look, Miya made a mental note to follow up the physical treatment by recommending some counselling sessions - either aboard the Challenger or at their eventual destination. Given the current situation, some members of the Challenger’s crew might also benefit from talking to the counsellor, she thought. And I’m probably going to be one of them!

Jordy ran to the team member of the chief.
‘What happend to him?’Cadet Jordy Kleine - Security
Rodier dropped to one knee beside the fallen officer, murmuring something. “You have given your life for another. May all be well.” Jordy’s words came as if through a mist, and he responded, “He gave his life for that colonist. I should’ve…” he trailed off.
Henry’s cheek felt damp, but no tears fell.

As the frenzied pace of activity slowed, the sharp voice of the CO came across the comm badges of the senior staff present in the area: =/\= Lieutenants Rodier and O’Connell, report. =/\=
- Davis, CO (crosspost)
Blinking a few times, Henry brushed the NC’s eyes closed, inhaled deeply, and stood. =^= Rodier to Davis, cargo bay secured. One officer lost. Maintaining a small security presence. =^= He gestured to a few of the nearby NCs to take up a position by the room’s main entrance, and to grab some medical officers to carry the dead cadet out.

=/\= Acknowledged, Lieutenant. =/\=
Emmy’s voice remained neutral as she responded to the crushing report.

=^= Cadet Williams to Lieutenant O’Connell. We managed to treat the injured colonists, which are now in stable condition. I also managed to examine their blood and didn’t find anything abnormal. Even though, we’ve put the colonist in surveillance at Sickbay and prevent them to go elsewhere. I and the medical staff are at your disposal if you need it. Over.=^=Cadet Aaron Williams (crosspost from Sickbay)
OOC: As the sim is in the wrapping up phase please feel free to resolve this thread however you folks want. I’m going to assume that the injured colonist ends up in sickbay and in the process she is going to remain comatose. Fantastic job everyone!
GM Madness
Still working opposite Lt O’Connell on the injured colonist, Miya heard Aaron’s message and breathed a silent prayer of thanks that her friend - and the party of colonists who had escaped the creatures - were all safe. She didn’t know the name of the cadet who had died; no doubt that would be communicated to the crew later. She would say a death chant during her evening prayers for all the ones who had lost their lives, Starfleet and colonists both. And then she’d thank the Prophets that she, her friends and colleagues had somehow come through these challenges without hurt or harm. Well, not physical hurt, anyway.
A NC came up to her, asking for help to move the cadet’s body. With a word to Lieutenant O’Connell, she stood - feeling slightly shaky - and made her way to where Lieutenant Rodier was standing by a bloodied corpse bearing the uniform of a security cadet. Miya swallowed. She had seen death before, of course, but this was visceral.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered, half to the Lieutenant, half to the cadet who would never now graduate and become a Starfleet officer.
