With his check-in with the ship Captain out of the way, Asher had swiftly transitioned towards the ship’s medical bay in the hopes to as quickly get his arrival medical examination done. In the past month alone he’d undergone several to ensure he was fit to teach, fit to serve on board the cadet ship both physically and mentally. If you’ve never seen two counsellors in a room together you’d be missing out.

He entered through the doors and set about looking for someone to undertake his medical examination. He’d like to meet the CMO but also any cadet willing to give him the time of day, it meant he could double up the examination as a chance to get a feel for how the cadets felt on board.

(OOC: sorry for the delayed reply! We don’t have any medical cadets at the moment, I’m afraid. Does a still-sort-of a cadet who’s not really CMO yet work for you? :D)

The pips on her collar still caught her eye every time she spotted her reflection in a darkened screen. Frowning, Miya tapped her PADD, causing it to flicker into life and her reflection disappeared. Good - she had a lot to do and not much time to do it; she didn’t need distractions. Sickbay and its staff were still recovering from events surrounding the rescue mission to the colony and somehow she, Ven Miya of Bajor and Starfleet, had to prepare to take over as chief medical officer from Lieutenant O’Connell when at times she felt as inexperienced as a first-year cadet facing the infamous Kobayashi Maru training exercise.

As she walked into Sickbay proper from one of the surgical alcoves, a newcomer quickly caught her eye. An older man with greying hair and lieutenant commander pips on his collar … interesting! Miya started to smile. This part of her job, at least, she knew she could do.

She approached him and saluted. “Lieutenant Commander, welcome to Sickbay. I’m Ca- ahhh, Lieutenant JG Ven Miya.” She couldn’t suppress the blush that followed her blunder. Miya fell back on formalities to help overcome her embarrassment. “How can I help you, sir? Are you unwell? Injured?”

Asher appreciated the gesture and returned them in kind, “Thank you, Lieutenant Miya. I see you’re still settling in here?” He’d of course read up on the people he would be taking under his care which included the once Cadet now soon to be Chief Medical officer of the ship. “I’m actually new here, just coming by to get my complimentary medical check-up” He smiled, “I’m Lt Commander Asher Miller, but feel free to call me Asher, after all, were colleagues and being ships counsellors, does afford me to drop some formalities” Asher enjoyed being counsellor, it allowed him to be freer and certainly more down to earth than perhaps a Security chief, his job was to make people feel comfortable and micro analyse them as he did.
