The turbolift doors opened, and Cadet Samuel Greene just automatically walked forward after noticing only one other occupant was inside. As the doors slid shut behind him, he then realized the other person in the compartment was an Admiral. If that wasn’t odd enough, there was an honest-to-goodness parrot perched on the Admiral’s shoulder. Flashes of ancient earth pirates flashed through his mind.

“Where are we headed cadet?”

“Sickbay, sir.” Greene managed to get out, and the turbolift resumed. Samuel turned and faced the doors. Trying and failing to inconspicuously look at the bird using only his peripheral vision, Samuel tried to come up with some logical explanation as to what in the world was happening. He had arrived at no good guess when the lift doors parted again, and allowed Samuel to escape the uncomfortable scene. He considered asking about the eccentric Admiral but wasn’t sure how to do so without sounding like a complete loon.

Greene entered sickbay and looked for someone who could clear him physically ready for duty.
