“Thank you.” Connor accepted the mug gladly and took a small sip of the tea, which began immediately serving it’s purpose and calming his nerves.

“Well, I enjoy sports, watching and playing. Honestly I spend most of my free time researching engineering.” The cadet took another sip from his mug. “You know, reading academic papers, writing my own ideas down.”

She nodded as she sipped her own drink. “Just make sure you’re taking your own time away from work, to avoid burnout.”

She shifted, angling her body more towards him as she tucked her feet beneath her on the sofa. “What sort of sports are you interested in?”

OOC: Sorry for the delay, the past couple days have been really busy for me IRL.

IC: Connor understood Vanessa’s concern. He doubted most cadets shared his outlook on his work. While others hurried to finish assignments so they could go get drinks, Connor hurried to finish assignments so he could begin working on the next one.

As the counselor leaned forward, the cadet leaned back instinctually. Though he had plenty of space, the adjustment made the conversation feel more intimate, something he was not accustomed to. “I’m partial to baseball, but I find non-Earth sports interesting. I did track and field while in high school and the academy myself for a time.”

Vanessa laughed, shaking her head. “Baseball has really been making a comeback,” she noted. “You only did them for a time?” She cocked her head slightly. “What kept you from doing it the entire time?”
