IC:
=^= Stadi to Rodier and Sickbay, looking at our layout, I’m going to have my team start retrofitting Cargo Bay’s 1 and 2 since Sickbay is on the same deck, giving easier access to the injured, and we can use the Shuttlebay as a potential overflow station. That will hopefully keep all our guests on one deck and make it easier on all our teams, unless security has any concerns with that plan=^=

The cadets returned Miya’s smile. Henry thought for a moment, bringing his hand up to his chin, an old habit. “Three hundred eighty five, if I recall. But the Captain didn’t mention how many were injured.”

~ Lt. jr. gr. Henry Rodier - COS

The doors to sickbay once more opened and admitted a woman in medical colours, her dark hair a messy sort of half bun pile on top of her head and held together with what looked like a PaDD stylus. She was in a sort of semi dressed state also, with one boot still in her hand and her lab coat only half covering her. Casting a glance around the woman proceeded to fix her lab coat and compose herself, straightening her back and lifting her chin in the manner of someone who was supposed to be in some sort of authority and had been caught on the back foot.

“Ahem…excuse me.” She said still holding the boot. She glanced at Rodier, having heard the last part of his commentary. “Perhaps that information would be prudent, don’t you agree?”

Lt. O’Connell
CMO

“Of course, Lieutenant. If I hear anything, I’ll be sure to send it your way.” He replied, and took a step back, moving towards the door somewhat awkwardly. “Now, I assume you have some…” Henry paused, trying to find the right words. “Some elements of medical to get to. I’ll be down the hall if you need me, got some work of my own to take care of.” With that, he walked out the door, hoping the CMO didn’t take slight to his abrupt exit.

~ Lt. Jr. Gr. Rodier - COS

Miya tried not to look disappointed that Lt Rodier had left - since the graduation ceremony in the hot tub, she’d thought more than once about his lean, muscular frame and unusual green-ish eyes. Pushing the memories aside, she turned to their new chief medical officer. Lt O’Connell was completely different from Lt T’Saie, the Vulcan CMO who had greeted Miya on her arrival aboard the Challenger, but the Bajoran appreciated the contrast in personalities.

Aaron smiled, as he watched Miya’s deception, while Lieutenant Rodier was leaving the piece. It’s quite understandable, he thought. Facing a new superior might be quite impressive, and Rodier is the only one we know in this room that can give us support., if things go wrong with our new CMO.

I miss T’saie. Even if she was cold-hearted, she always knew what to do, like facing a superior, or solving a crisis. Aaron looked at Lieutenant O’Connell, wondering what type of woman she could be. Her half-dressed style reminds him of Vanessa, the counselor of the ship. Thinking of her makes Aaron chuckling a bit. I think they will perfectly get along, thought the cadet.

“Cadet Williams has checked our stocks, sir, and Lieutenant Staedi from Engineering has said he’ll fit out the two cargo bays on this deck to take the colonists, with the shuttlebay as an overflow station should we need it.” Glancing at Aaron, she added, “Is there anything you’d like us to do to start preparing for the colonists’ arrival? The next two days will pass quickly, I’m sure.”

[Cadet Ven Miya]
Looking at Lieutenant O’Connell, Aaron nodded his head toward her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lieutenant”, he said, taking a more formal posture.

(OOC: just bringing this up to the moment with the current sim - apologies if I’m stepping on anyone’s toes by doing this!)

Two and a bit days had passed quickly, with all the preparations necessary to get Sickbay, its staff and nearby facilities ready for the influx of colonists. Miya couldn’t suppress an involuntary shiver as the klaxons for yellow alert blared throughout the ship and the captain’s comm message sounded a fraction of a second later:

=/\= Bridge to All Staff. We are approaching the colony. Take your places to begin the evacuation. =/\= (Cross-post)

The Bajoran cadet glanced around, hoping she had properly prepared everything she’d been asked to do. “Well, here we go!” she murmured. “Hopefully there’s no tribbles involved in this emergency ......” The critters had been cute, but not exactly what Miya had trained for at Starfleet Academy. Prophets, whatever happens, let me do my best, she thought. Bajor seemed so very far away at times like these.

(OOC: lovely GM - are there any lingering challenges or problems with the preparations Sickbay, in particular, has been making for the colonists? Anything our characters would be aware of or may be concerned about?)

[Cadet Ven Miya - doctor]

Aaron was walking to Sickbay, waked up by the last transmission. The yellow alert was blaring for two days and began to get on his nerves. He was a bit tired, both because of the 2-days stress and because he tried to relieve the stress by playing saxophone all night.
The one thing that is boring in space is the travel delay between one location to another, especially when it comes to an emergency.

As the Sickbay’s hatch opened, Aaron saw Miya wandering in the room, glancing around. She looked a bit worried. Who isn’t?, he thought. I could barely sleep those last days.

“Hey there! How is it going ?”, he said, approaching Miya with a smile. “No one had shown yet?”
