‘I Arived yesterday i Explored the ship the same day today i started the check ins.’ Jordy replied.

“Ah, I’m glad you’ve had time to look around! Once you’ve checked in with everyone, the department heads tend to put you to work pretty quickly.” Miya grinned at him from over the top of her PADD. She had noted his age - just 16 years - which seemed to be quite young, compared to most of the other cadets she knew aboard. However, he must have passed the appropriate Academy courses to attain this posting, so she didn’t comment on this. The Bajoran thought that he seemed to be a little shy: Maybe I can encourage him to have a bit of a conversation?

While making some adjustments to the biobed scanner, she smiled down at the cadet. “So, Jordy, what did you think of the Challenger while you were exploring? Did you find the room containing the Executive Officer’s hot tub?”

“Oh, he certainly has a hot tub!” Miya chuckled at the memories. “In fact, it was used for the last graduation ceremony. That was a surprise, let me tell you! I’ll admit, I never thought people might graduate in their swimsuits.” Not that everyone had - but seeing many of the senior staff in their swimsuits had added another level of informality and enjoyment to the event, Miya thought.

Glancing again at her PADD, she added, “I’m glad you like the Challenger. I felt at home here very quickly - I hope you do too. Okay, scan’s finished! You can sit up, if you want, while I run through these results.” She gave the newcomer a quick smile. “I see from your records you’re a security officer. What are you looking forward to most about being aboard?”
