=/\= Davis to Barr and Lofton. We are enroute to Ferox Thirteen to relocate struggling human colonists. See what you can find out about why they are struggling. =/\=

=^= Understooo....=^= Alison started, interrupted by a yawn, having been woken in the middle of her off shift. =^= Understood Captain. =^=
=^= Barr to Science Lab 1. I’ll be there shortly, in the meantime bring up the information you have on the Ferox Thirteen colony. See what is known about the issues they are having. I’ll… =^= Alison paused again to yawn. =^= I’ll be there in a bit, I just need to find some coffee first. =^=

About 10 minutes later Alison came in carrying a pot of coffee and a cup in her hand, and nodded at the team that had the night shift in the science lab. Before she said anything, she sat the cup down and poured herself a cup. Picking up the cup she took a second to inhale the aroma of the fresh pot of coffee, before taking a long sip.
“Ahh,” she let out before taking a second sip. That done, she set the cup down on the island next to the pot.
“What have we found out about the colony so far?” Alison asked as she pulled her hair back into a loose pony tail. While not totally unexpected to get some middle of the night wake up calls, there was no reason why she had to enjoy them. Finishing putting up her hair she looked down and was just slightly amazed that she had managed to actually find a clean uniform to pull on.
That all sorted, she picked up her coffee cup and finished it. As she poured herself a second cup, Alison started looking at the information about the colony that was on the screen, while she waited to hear what her team had found.

The doors parted shortly afterward as the dark haired counselor entered. “Good morning, Lieutenant,” she yawned as she approached. “I’ve retrieved some basic information,” she told the scientist. “I transferred it here, thinking it would be easier to group up.”
She pulled up a stool and sat, elbow on the table, leaning her head on her palm.

The computer listed on terminal all of the recorded communications. The colony had communicated consistently with the Federation’s Colonial Division during the first year after settling on Ferox Thirteen. Most of the communiques were regarding shipments of goods to keep the colony running, consults medically on any advanced injury or illness, and messages home to family members. Then it all stopped for six months before they called for help. They hadn’t returned any communications at all during that time. Additionally all shipments of supplies had stopped five days before the communications had.

Moving to the side, Alison pushed open a cabinet with her heel before reaching in and pulling out a mug with a Starfleet logo on it. Setting it down on the table, she pushed it towards the Counselor and used her own mug to point to the pot.
“Didn’t they teach you to always be prepared Commander?” she asked while taking another drink of her own cup.
As the computer beeped and started displaying the information, Alison lowered her own cup and started skimming the data.
“So why would a colony that was in regular communication with HQ, just suddenly stop… It’s highly doubtful that there was an equipment issue, if they were able to suddenly call for help. Political change?”
Lt Barr - CSO
Vanessa poured a mug of coffee, and then loaded the contents down with sugar and cream.
She shrugged at the scientist’s question. “It’s possible it was an equipment issue and they just didn’t feel the need to fix it until recently?” She stirred the coffee, eyes staring past the data on screen. “Why didn’t HQ pick up on the drop in communications and send someone earlier?” she pondered.
“Another great question, because you’d think they’d have sent someone at least to swing by after the first month of no communications. Instead of just writing off the colony…”
Setting her coffee cup to the side, Alison started flipping through the screens. “Did they put any satellites into orbit, or leave any ships…” Alison trailed off as she searched through the computer database to find out
Lt Barr - CSO
While ostensibly under the supervision of the Federation’s Colonial Management Department, the colony itself had asked for a fairly hands-off policy for non-intervention except in the case of a dire emergency. There was a single comm sat in orbit and no ships or shuttles were left behind.

“Hmmmm,” she said as she scanned the data. “There is a single comm satellite in orbit of the planet. I wonder if it would be able to tell us anything more once we reach orbit, or if there are any other message stuck in its buffer…”
Picking up her coffee cup she took a sip. Definitely something they would have to work on once they arrived in orbit.
