Issac stopped outside the Chief Counselor’s office, and took a deep breath. Relax, it’s not like you haven’t been in a year or two of therapy after that Nausicaan attack. “Come in!” sounded through the door panel. The doors swished open to a human woman in medical blue, black hair done up in a bun with a wooden skewer, holding a watering can in the middle of the room. “Come in Issac,” she smiled brightly. “Let me put this away. I was just watering my flowers.” She gestured to the other side of the room as she continued walking.

Her flowers were white daisies, kept in a red vase on an end table beside the main seating area. Most of the room was taken up by a large L-shaped sectional couch, upholstered in light blue and set against a darker blue wall. Over the couch hung a painting of a couple - a barefoot woman in a red evening gown and a man in a tuxedo - dancing on a wet beach, while a butler and lady’s maid stood nearby clutching umbrellas. The counselor put the watering can away beneath a desk on the opposite end of the room.

“I’m Lieutenant Commander Lofton,” she said as she stood and turned toward the food slot. “But please call me Vanessa. Would you like something to drink?”
