Maddie had already researched and considered several potential post Academy ship assignment options. She instantly answered Carmen’s question without any hesitation at all. “Well Carmen, I do not believe that we have much of a say on where we get assigned after graduation unfortunately. I am expecting to be sent wherever on my first ship assignment. However, if I could choose a particular ship I would pick the U.S.S. Genesis. It is a heavy science research vessel with plenty of opportunity for exploration and research which would maximize my potential as a Science Officer.” She sighed. “I do hope that I am not assigned warship though. I do not feel that a tactical oriented vessel would be a good fit and the research opportunities may prove to be to scarce to make my time there enjoyable or beneficial.” She shrugged her shoulders casually. “However, like I said. I do not think we have a say in the matter. At the end of the day it is what it is.”

Cadet Marsh (Science)

Kyle smiled whistfully, “I’m sure the good Doctor will do her best to help you get there Cadet.” There was a hint of flirtation in Kyle’s eye, and he was trying , and failing to mask it.

“I always try my best to help,” said Carmen, looking over at Anders again and flashing him another grin. She picked up her lemonade and sipped it, almost wishing she had gotten something alcoholic. Maybe having something to drink would help the doctor side of her shut up and forget all the awful things that happen when you intentionally poison yourself. Maybe. “Are you a big fan of Jazz music, Lieutenant?”

Kyle grinned, glancing around at the lounge. He arched an eyebrow, grinned and said, “You think Cadet?”

“I find it’s fun to try out new styles of music, ones that I don’t regularly listen to. I can’t say I’ve listened to much Jazz, but it’s growing on me.” She shifted in her seat, leaning a bit closer to Kyle. “Have you ever listened to Caitian music? Some of it can be weird, but there are a couple of groups that make some crazy good stuff.”
